About me and my therapy practice
Life doesn't always go the way we expect it to. You might be struggling with anxiety, low mood, or a sense that things don't feel quite right. You could be adjusting to change, coming to terms with a loss, or facing a transition that's harder to process than you anticipated. Alternatively, you may be looking for a calm space to understand yourself better.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of counselling approaches and tailor our work to suit you as an individual. I bring an open mind to our work together, and I'm interested in who you are and the experiences that have shaped you. My MSc in Applied Positive Psychology also informs how I work: as well as exploring what's difficult, I'm keen to understand what gives your life meaning and to help you recognise personal strengths you may not have noticed. Alongside my private practice, I currently volunteer as a counsellor in two local hospices, supporting people who are living with a cancer diagnosis or other life-changing illness, or who have experienced a bereavement. I also have experience of volunteering for Mind.
Whatever your reason for coming to counselling, my aim is to offer a quiet, confidential space where you can be yourself. You don't need to have the right words ready, or to arrive with things already worked out. If you're feeling stuck, or unsure where to begin, that's fine. You can simply come as you are, and we can work through it at your pace.
Practice description
I work with adults aged 18 years+, on a short or long-term basis. I support people through life changes and concerns such as low mood, anxiety, overwhelm, low self-confidence, and relationship difficulties. I also have a particular interest in supporting people who have experienced:
• cancer and life-changing health diagnoses
• loss and bereavement
• perimenopause and menopause
Sessions are weekly, at the same time and day each week, and last 50 minutes. They can take place in-person in St Albans or London Colney, or online via Zoom.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation, where we can discuss what has brought you to counselling, how I work as a counsellor, and answer any questions you might have. If you decide that you would like to work with me, I will send you a copy of my contract to look through, along with a short client information form.
Our first session is a chance for us to see if we work well together. I'll ask you some questions so that you can tell me more about yourself, maybe some goals you have, or simply what you'd like to be different in your life. There are no wrong answers, and you only need to share what you are comfortable with. I will also go through the key points of my contract, which will give you the chance to ask any questions.
There's no obligation to book further sessions. If you'd like to continue, we can arrange a day and time that works for you.
