About me and my therapy practice

I am an experienced BACP registered Psychodynamic Counsellor. My approach is warm, grounded and compassionate. I aim to create a therapeutic relationship where you feel able to talk openly and share your difficulties, without judgement, at a pace that is right for you.

I work with a range of issues including but not limited to trauma, depression, disordered eating, abuse, anxiety and low self-esteem. Whatever brings you to therapy, I offer a space to think, feel and explore what may be going on and to support you in developing a deeper understanding of yourself which will enable you to move forward with your life.

I believe that meaningful change happens within a trusting therapeutic relationship. My work is based on integrity and compassion, and we will work with whatever you choose to bring to therapy - nothing should be too big, too small or too difficult to talk about.

Practice description

I am a Registered Member of the BACP and I work to the BACP’s standards of Good Practice and abide by their Code of Ethics.

I work psychodynamically, exploring underlying patterns and behaviours that may be manifesting as low self-esteem, anxiety, depression or difficulties in relationships. Together, we look beneath the surface of current difficulties to develop deeper self-awareness and an understanding of how past relationships can shape the way we feel about ourselves and relate to others in the present.

Alongside my private practice, I work as a volunteer counsellor and mentor at The Counselling Foundation. I also spent many years volunteering with Beat, supporting carers and helping to raise awareness of eating disorders.

Before training as a counsellor, I worked in HR in corporate, education and charity sectors.

My first session

Seeking therapy may feel daunting. You may be confused by the way you are feeling. Sometimes there is no clear explanation other than a sense that something does not feel right. If you would like the opportunity to discuss whether therapy and how we would work together, I offer a free 15-minute introductory call to give you an opportunity to ask any questions.

Following our call, if you decide you would like to meet, we will arrange a first session at a time convenient to you. If after our first session you would like to proceed with therapy, we will agree a suitable day and time for weekly sessions. I see clients face to face in premises in Wheathampstead and Luton or online.
