Availability
I will be opening my private practice from the end of August 2026.
I currently have availability on Mondays and Tuesdays, as well as some evenings. I offer both in-person and online sessions, although I prefer our initial meeting to be face to face where possible. This gives us the opportunity to get a fuller sense of one another, to talk through what has brought you to counselling, and to think together about whether I am the right counsellor for you.
Please feel free to contact me to discuss current availability, as this may vary.
About me and my therapy practice
I work psychodynamically, which means I am interested in what may be happening beneath the surface, and in how past experiences, relationships and unconscious patterns can shape the way you feel, think and relate today. At the same time, I do not work in a rigid or formulaic way. I tune in carefully to each person and to what feels most needed in the room.
I offer a calm, thoughtful and confidential space where you can speak freely and at your own pace. Together, we may begin to notice recurring themes, difficult feelings, defences, relationship patterns or parts of yourself that feel hard to understand or put into words.
My approach is warm, compassionate and curious. I do not offer quick fixes or advice, but instead work collaboratively with you to develop a deeper understanding of your inner world. I believe that being genuinely heard and understood can deepen self-awareness, bring emotional clarity, and open up the possibility of meaningful change over time.
Alongside my counselling work, I have a background in teaching spanning almost 20 years, which has given me a particular sensitivity to the impact of early experiences, family dynamics, adolescence, identity and belonging. It has also deepened my understanding of learning difficulties and neurodivergence, and the ways these can influence self-esteem, relationships, emotional wellbeing and a person’s sense of being understood.
Whether you are experiencing anxiety, depression, loss, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, or simply have a sense that something doesn’t feel quite right, I aim to offer a therapeutic relationship in which there is room to bring what feels difficult, confusing or hard to put into words.
Practice description
My practice is located in central Tonbridge, just off the High Street, within walking distance of Tonbridge train station. There is parking available nearby.
Sessions take place in a calm, private and confidential room. I offer both in-person and online counselling.
I am a psychodynamic counsellor with BACP-accredited training and experience of working therapeutically with adults within a counselling centre setting. I also comply with the continuing professional development requirements of my profession, ensuring my practice remains informed, reflective and up to date.
I recognise that taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting. My aim is to provide a safe, respectful and reliable therapeutic space where you can feel heard, understood and supported throughout the process.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and begin to think together about what has brought you to counselling. We will explore your current concerns, any relevant background, and what you hope to gain from therapy.
It is also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the counselling process and to get a sense of whether I feel like the right counsellor for you. Finding someone you feel comfortable with is an important part of successful therapy.
Where possible, I prefer to hold the first session in person, even if we later decide that online sessions are the best option.
