Door of Hope is committed to providing a space

where healing can begin and hope is restored.

My first session

At Door of Hope Counselling, we aim to make your first visit as comfortable and straightforward as possible. On arrival, you will find convenient off-road parking spaces at the front of the building. When you reach the entrance, please use the intercom button for Door of Hope Counselling.

Once inside, there is a waiting area to your left where you can sit until your appointment time. Your counsellor will then come to meet you and guide you upstairs to the counselling room, located in Room 5. We understand that attending your first session can feel daunting, and we strive to create a calm, respectful, and welcoming environment from the moment you arrive.

Your first session will take the form of an initial assessment. This is an opportunity for you to begin sharing what has brought you to counselling, as well as your hopes and goals for the process. It is also a chance for us to begin building a collaborative relationship, where your voice, pace, and needs are central to the work we do together.

During this session, we will go through the client contract with you, explaining how counselling works, including confidentiality, boundaries, and what you can expect from the service. This ensures that you feel informed and supported as you begin your counselling journey.

Ahead of your first appointment, you will receive the client contract, a data rights summary, and payment information via email for your review. This allows you time to read through everything at your own pace and bring any questions you may have to your first session.
