About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I’m Yasmin Ahmed, a fully qualified integrative counsellor and a registered MBACP. I offer a calm, supportive online space through The Centre Within Counselling, where you can take time to pause, reflect, and begin to make sense of what you’re experiencing.
I understand that coming to counselling can feel like a significant step. Many people arrive feeling overwhelmed, stuck, emotionally drained, or unsure of what they’re feeling. At times, these experiences can be linked to patterns or earlier life experiences that continue to shape how you relate to yourself and others. My role is to offer a space where you can explore this safely, at a pace that feels manageable for you.
As an integrative counsellor, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, including person-centred, psychodynamic, gestalt, and more. This allows me to work flexibly and thoughtfully, tailoring the process to your individual needs rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. I aim to support you as a whole person, considering your thoughts, emotions, and physical responses, so that we can build a deeper understanding of your experiences.
Our work together may involve exploring what is happening for you in the present, making connections to past experiences, or developing ways to manage difficult thoughts and feelings. The focus is not on fixing you, but on helping you gain insight, build resilience, and reconnect with your own inner sense of stability and strength.
I work in line with the BACP Ethical Framework, offering a professional, confidential, and reflective service.
Practice description
I offer individual online counselling for adults (18+) in a calm, confidential space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported. Sessions are held online, allowing you to access counselling from the comfort and privacy of your own environment.
Each session lasts 50 minutes and is shaped around what feels most important to you. I work in a flexible, client-led way, meaning we move at a pace that feels manageable, with space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences without pressure or judgement.
As an integrative counsellor, I adapt the way I work depending on your needs. This might involve exploring present-day challenges, understanding patterns that have developed over time, or finding ways to cope with difficult emotions. There is no expectation to have everything figured out before you begin. Many clients come with a general sense that something isn’t quite right, and we can start from there.
I work with a wide range of experiences, including anxiety, low mood, stress, trauma, co-dependency, addictions, self-esteem difficulties, relationship challenges, life transitions, family estrangement, and many more. I also support clients in exploring patterns linked to earlier life experiences, particularly where these continue to impact day-to-day life.
I offer both short-term and longer-term work, depending on what feels appropriate for you. I aim to provide a consistent, supportive space where you can begin to understand yourself more fully and move towards a greater sense of balance and wellbeing.
My first session
The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and begin exploring what has brought you to counselling. I understand that taking this step can feel significant, so the session is approached in a calm, supportive way, with space for you to speak openly at your own pace.
During this session, we will complete an initial assessment together. This involves gathering some background information, including any relevant personal history, current challenges, and what you would like from counselling. This helps to ensure that the work we do is appropriate for your needs and provides a clear starting point for our sessions.
There is also time for you to ask any questions about how I work, what to expect from counselling, and whether this feels like the right fit for you. There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with, and we will go at a pace that feels manageable.
The first session is the same length as ongoing sessions (50 minutes) and is charged at my standard fee of £50. It is held online in a confidential and professional setting.
My aim is for you to leave the session feeling heard, with a clearer sense of how we might work together moving forward.
