Counselling is a collaborative process – together, we’ll work at your pace to explore what matters most to you. There is no right or wrong way to use your sessions. Counselling can be what you make it. Your goals are unique and individual to you – each story is important, valued and recognised.
My approach is person centered, where we will take the sessions at your pace, and you choose what to bring to each session. My approach is grounded in empathy, respect and genuine care for each individual’s unique journey. This approach is a way of working in counselling that puts you at the heart of the process. You are the expert on your own life. With the right support, you have the ability to understand yourself, grow and make meaningful changes.
Each session is guided by you and what you choose to bring to the session. We can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences that bring you here, at a pace that feels right for you.
People come to counselling for many different reasons. While everyone’s experience is unique, I have supported clients with a range of difficulties. I do not promise to have all the answers, but I offer a thoughtful, supportive space to explore what is happening for you.
Practice description
You will be listened to and understood in our sessions. I work in a Person-Centred way, so the working relationship between us is a strong foundation on which you will be able to make the changes you want. I will work with you with an open and inquisitive style. You will be in the driving seat at all times, no rush or pressure. There is no right or wrong way to use our time together.
Working together, we can shape our sessions around your individual needs, helping you find what you need and are looking for.
People come to therapy for many different reasons. You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out; sometimes it simply starts with a sense that something isn’t quite right, or that life feels harder than it should. Whatever brings you here, you’ll be met with understanding and respect.
I work with a range of emotional and psychological challenges, including:
Anxiety, stress, and feeling overwhelmed
Low mood and depression
Relationship difficulties (romantic, family, colleagues and friendship)
Grief, loss, and life transitions
Low self-esteem and lack of confidence
Overthinking and difficulty making decisions
Anger, frustration, or emotional regulation difficulties
Trauma and past experiences that continue to have an impact
Feeling stuck, lost, or uncertain about the future
Burnout and work-related stress
You might be dealing with one specific issue, or a combination of more. Counselling gives you the opportunity to slow down, reflect, and begin to understand the patterns, experiences, and emotions that are shaping your life.
Whilst I’m not here to diagnose or medicate in any way, together, we can work towards helping you feel more balanced, more self-aware, and better equipped to navigate challenges, which hopefully will give you tools to carry forward with you in the future.
My first session
Taking the first step toward counselling can feel like a big decision – and it is. Whether you’re facing a specific challenge, feeling stuck, or simply want to understand yourself better, reaching out for support is a strong and positive choice.I offer a free 15 minute call before our first 50 minute online session which is an opportunity for you to ask me any questions about how I work and what to expect from therapy. If after our 15 minute call you decide we are the right fit I will send an online link 24 hours before our 50 minute session. I will also send a contract for you to sign and send over before our first session. In this session we can further explore what brings you to therapy and your goals.
First sessions can usually be arranged with one week’s notice and will be at the same day and time each week to ensure stability around the needs of your routine and lifestyle. Our initial call and first session are a chance for us to get to know each other and talk about what you’d like to get from counselling. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out — we’ll move at a pace that feels right for you. You can share as much or as little as you’re comfortable with; my role is to listen, understand, and help you explore what’s going on in a safe and confidential space.
