Availability

I offer flexible counselling appointments to accommodate a range of individual needs and circumstances. I welcome enquiries from new clients and aim to respond to all messages within 24 hours.

Sessions are available online via Whereby or by telephone throughout the UK. I also offer face-to-face counselling, including mobile appointments within 10 miles of Prudhoe, Northumberland, and walk-and-talk therapy for clients who feel more comfortable outdoors.

I understand that balancing work, family life and personal commitments can make accessing counselling difficult, so I aim to offer appointment times that are as flexible and accessible as possible, including evenings and weekends.

Please feel free to get in touch to discuss my current availability and find an appointment that works for you.

About me and my therapy practice

I believe that everyone deserves to feel heard, understood and accepted without judgement. Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, and my aim is to provide a warm, compassionate and confidential space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.

As an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor, I recognise that no two people are the same, and therefore no single approach to therapy suits everyone. I draw upon Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Gestalt approaches, tailoring our work together to your individual needs and circumstances.

I have extensive experience supporting individuals affected by domestic abuse, coercive control, trauma, sexual violence, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief and significant life changes. I also have experience working with neurodivergent individuals and those experiencing attachment difficulties.

My approach is trauma-informed, empathetic and collaborative. Together, we can explore how past experiences may be influencing your present thoughts, emotions, relationships and behaviours, while developing greater self-awareness, healthier boundaries and practical ways of managing life's challenges.

I believe that counselling is not about telling you what to do or who you should become. It is about helping you reconnect with yourself, recognise your strengths and find your own way forward.

I offer counselling online, by telephone, through mobile face-to-face appointments and walk-and-talk sessions, providing flexibility to suit your needs.

Whether you are facing a particular difficulty or simply feel that something in your life needs to change, you do not have to navigate it alone.

Practice description

I understand that reaching out for counselling can feel like a big step, particularly if you have never experienced therapy before or have found it difficult to trust others with your thoughts and feelings.

My practice offers a welcoming, confidential and non-judgemental environment where you can feel comfortable being yourself, without pressure or expectations.

Our first session is an opportunity to get to know one another, explore what has brought you to counselling, and discuss what you would like to gain from our time together. We can talk about any concerns you may have, how I work and whether you feel I am the right counsellor for you.

You are not expected to share everything immediately. Building trust takes time, and you will always be encouraged to work at a pace that feels comfortable and manageable for you.

Sessions are tailored to your individual needs. Some clients benefit from exploring past experiences and understanding patterns in their relationships, while others prefer to focus on present challenges, developing coping strategies, improving self-esteem or establishing healthier boundaries.

Where appropriate, I may incorporate grounding techniques, psychoeducation and practical therapeutic exercises to support your understanding of yourself and your emotional wellbeing.

I offer online counselling via Whereby, telephone sessions, mobile face-to-face appointments within approximately 10 miles of Prudhoe, Northumberland, and walk-and-talk therapy.

Whether you are seeking short-term support with a particular issue or longer-term therapeutic work, we can regularly review your progress and ensure our sessions continue to meet your needs.

Above all, my aim is to build a therapeutic relationship based on trust, empathy, respect, and genuine human connection.

My first session

Your first counselling session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and explore what has brought you to therapy.

I appreciate that starting counselling can feel daunting, particularly if you are unsure what to expect or find it difficult to talk about personal experiences. My aim is to help you feel comfortable, listened to and supported from the very beginning.

During our initial session, we will complete a gentle assessment to help me understand your current circumstances, emotional wellbeing, relevant personal history and what you hope to achieve through counselling.

We will also discuss confidentiality and its limits, our counselling agreement, boundaries and how we might work together. You will have plenty of opportunities to ask questions or raise any concerns.

There is no pressure to share anything you are not ready to discuss. You remain in control of what you choose to disclose, and we will work at a pace that feels right for you.

We may begin identifying areas you would like to explore, whether these relate to past experiences, current difficulties, relationships, emotional wellbeing or personal growth.

Most importantly, the first session allows you to decide whether you feel comfortable working with me. Finding the right counsellor is an important part of the therapeutic process, and I want you to feel confident in your choice.

My approach is warm, collaborative, and non-judgemental, and I aim to make your first counselling experience as welcoming and reassuring as possible.
