About me and my therapy practice

I specialise in relationships and couples therapy, while also working with individuals experiencing grief, loss, difficult relational patterns, low self-esteem and emotional overwhelm.

I am an integrative and relational counsellor working with adults and couples in person and online. Many of the people who come to me feel stuck in patterns that keep repeating the same arguments, emotional distance, difficulty communicating, fear of rejection, loss of trust, or a sense of becoming disconnected from themselves or from someone they love.

In couples therapy, I work with relationships affected by conflict, communication difficulties, emotional distance, intimacy concerns, loss of trust and recurring patterns that can leave both partners feeling unheard or alone. My role is not to decide who is right or wrong, but to help both partners understand what is happening between them and what may be sitting underneath the conflict.

I also work individually with people who want to understand themselves and their relationships more deeply, including those experiencing grief and bereavement, relationship difficulties, emotional loss, changes in identity, self-esteem difficulties or significant life transitions.

My approach is warm, thoughtful and collaborative. I do not see therapy as a process of “fixing” someone or telling them how to live. I believe meaningful change can develop through a therapeutic relationship in which you feel heard, understood and able to explore your experience without judgement or pressure.

Practice description

My way of working is integrative, humanistic and relational, with the therapeutic relationship at the centre of the work.

I work collaboratively rather than directing clients towards a particular decision or outcome. We may explore what is happening now, experiences from the past, patterns within relationships, emotions that are difficult to express, and the ways you have learned to protect yourself or stay connected to others.

With couples, I pay particular attention to the pattern between partners. Sometimes the argument itself is only the visible part of something deeper: feeling rejected, criticised, unimportant, controlled, misunderstood or frightened of losing the relationship. Understanding these patterns can create space for different conversations and a deeper understanding of each other.

Individual therapy may involve exploring relationships, grief, identity, self-worth, boundaries, emotional patterns or a sense of feeling stuck or disconnected. There is no single way therapy has to look; our work develops around what feels meaningful and useful to you.

My professional training includes a BA in Humanistic Integrative Counselling, a Diploma in Working with Couples and Families, a Diploma in Grief and Bereavement Counselling, a Diploma in Compassion-Focused Therapy and further advanced specialist training in couples work.

I work with both short-term and longer-term therapy, depending on what brings you and what you would like from counselling.

My first session

The first session gives us time to understand what has brought you to therapy, what feels important at the moment and what you hope may become different.

It is also an opportunity for you to experience how I work and consider whether we feel able to work well together.

With couples, both partners have space to speak. I am interested in understanding the relationship between you rather than deciding who is right or wrong.

There is no expectation that you need to have everything clearly explained before you arrive. We can begin with whatever feels most important to you.
