About me and my therapy practice
At Lumina Wellbeing and Counselling, I provide professional online and telephone counselling for adults across Leicester and the UK, including support for neurodivergent clients. My approach is warm, compassionate, and client-centred, creating a safe and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, emotions, and life challenges at your own pace.
I work with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, burnout, grief, bereavement, relationship difficulties, workplace stress, family conflict, infertility, and low self-esteem. I am an integrative counsellor which means therapy is tailored to individual needs, recognising that everyone is different and no two experiences are the same.
My counselling approach focuses on helping clients gain clarity, develop healthier coping strategies, improve emotional wellbeing, and build resilience for long-term personal growth. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, stuck in negative thought patterns, struggling with past experiences, or simply needing someone to talk to, I aim to provide support that feels genuine, empathic, kind and empowering.
Some people come with a specific issue, while others feel overwhelmed, stuck, numb, or unsure how to express what they are experiencing. Whatever brings you to counselling, you will be met with empathy, honesty, kindness and care
Sessions are available online or by telephone, offering flexible support that can fit around busy lifestyles and professional commitments. I also offer a free 15-minute consultation, allowing us to discuss your needs and answer any questions you may have before starting therapy. Clients can use the online live booking system to make their appointments, alternatively, please contact me and I can do this for you.
I am a registered member of the BACP and work within a strict ethical framework to ensure confidentiality, professionalism and high standards of care. My practice is also registered with the ICO for data protection.
Practice description
At Lumina, I offer a warm, supportive and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood, accepted and valued just as you are. Reaching out for counselling can feel daunting, so I ensure to create an environment where you feel safe to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.
I have experience supporting adults with a range of emotional and mental health difficulties through my work within Leicestershire County Council, where I worked with employees from diverse backgrounds. This developed my understanding of the pressures people face both personally and professionally, including stress, anxiety, burnout, low mood and emotional overwhelm.
I also work with neurodivergent clients, including those with ADHD and autism. I understand the importance of adapting therapy to suit each person’s unique way of experiencing the world.
I am certified in supporting clients affected by infertility, pregnancy loss, infant and baby loss, bereavement and grief. Through my work with Cruse Bereavement Support, I trained to support clients experiencing loss with sensitivity and compassion, recognising how deeply loss can affect every area of life and how isolating it can feel.
I am also a certified trauma-informed practitioner. This means I work sensitively and collaboratively, prioritising your emotional safety, trust and empowerment.
My approach is integrative, compassionate and client-centred. As an integrative counsellor, I draw from Person-Centred Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA) and Psychodynamic approaches. This allows me to tailor sessions to your individual needs and goals.
Clients can expect a truly confidential, accessible and supportive space, whether working online or by telephone. I also offer a free 15-minute consultation so you can ask any questions you may have. A simple online booking system is available for your convenience, or you can contact me directly if you prefer support with booking.
My first session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a safe and supportive therapeutic relationship. I understand that starting counselling can feel like a big step, so this session is designed to help you feel as comfortable as possible.
There is no difference in rate for the first session. It is a full counselling session where we will talk through what has brought you to therapy and what you would like support with. You do not need to prepare anything in advance, and there is no pressure to share anything you do not feel ready to discuss.
During this session, I may ask some gentle questions to help us understand your background, current difficulties, and what you hope to gain from counselling. This is also a space for you to ask any questions you may have about how I work, the therapeutic process, or what future sessions may look like.
We may also complete a brief assessment together, which helps me understand your needs and ensures that the support I offer is appropriate for you. This is done collaboratively and at your pace.
Most importantly, the first session is about you feeling heard and supported. Some clients leave feeling clearer about what they want to work on, while others mayuse it as a starting point to explore their thoughts and feelings.
By the end of the session, we will decide together whether we feel comfortable working together and, if so, arrange future sessions. There is no obligation to continue counselling and this is always your choice.
I also offer a free 15-minute consultation prior to booking, so you can ask questions before committing to a full session.
