About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Clare. I am a psychotherapist and counsellor specialised in working with children, teens and young adults aged 4-25.

If you, or your child, is feeling overwhelmed by life, therapy can be a big first step. I help children and young people understand and make sense of their feelings and experiences. I provide a calm and encouraging space to support a range of difficulties. Building on the therapeutic relationship is key and I work with empathy in a non-judgemental capacity to support autonomy, connection and change.

My experience as a therapist covers working in schools and private practice. I offer in-person therapy in Oving and Winslow, Buckinghamshire and Tring, Hertfordshire, as well as online therapy for young adults (18+) across the UK.

I am a registered member of the BACP and adhere to their code of ethics and I have an enhanced DBS certificate.

Alongside my private practice I work closely with my local hospice as a bereavement counsellor and as a support buddy with Macmillan to those living with cancer.

If you are looking for a child, teen or young adult therapist in Bucks or Herts, I offer a calm, supportive and confidential space to explore whats going on, please get in touch or check out my website, www.claresouththerapy.co.uk.

Practice description

As an integrative therapist I combine cognitive and creative therapies to provide the best support. I have a calm, supportive and adaptive approach to meet the varying needs of my clients.

I work with clients experiencing a range of difficulties including anxiety, school/university/work issues, family dynamics, intrusive thoughts, loss, relationships, self-esteem, stress and trauma. In addition, I have a particular interest, and experience, in supporting those going through family separation and their journey in blended families.

I use an integrative approach depending on which type of therapy works best for the client to make progress. My foundation is person-centred which means sessions are client led. Alongside which, I use a range of practices including: systemic therapy to work with family and relationships; Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) to target specific issues in thoughts and behaviours like anxiety and depression; and creative therapies, such as sand, art and buttons, to provide a safe medium to explore difficulties.

My first session

Before starting therapy, I offer a free 30-minute initial chat to talk through your concerns and what feels most difficult right now for you or your child.

If you'd like to ask a question or discuss your situation then you can email be at claresouththerapy@gmail.com or send a message through the listing.

I understand that therapy is an investment and I am happy to work with you to make it accessible.
