About me and my therapy practice
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel difficult and I recognise that reaching out can take considerable courage. I aim to provide a safe, welcoming and non-judgemental space where you can feel comfortable.
There may be times in life when things feel overwhelming, you feel unable to move forward, or simply know that something needs to change but are unsure where to begin. You may be experiencing anxiety, low mood, panic, difficulties in your relationships, or struggling with confidence and self-worth. You may find yourself caught in patterns of behaviour or ways of thinking that you would like to understand and change.
I have experience working with a range of concerns, including anxiety, panic, trauma, low mood, self-esteem and self worth, relationship difficulties, family separation, procrastination, chronic illness, pain, disability, eating disorders and experiences of abuse.
Counselling can provide an opportunity to pause and make sense of what you are experiencing. Together, we can explore what has brought you to counselling, consider how your experiences may have shaped the way you think, feel and respond and identify what you would like to be different.
My hope is that, through our work together, you can develop greater self-awareness, confidence and a stronger sense of being able to manage whatever life brings. Most importantly, I want you to feel heard, understood and supported as you work towards the changes that matter to you.
Practice description
I work integratively, drawing from different therapeutic approaches to meet each clients individual needs. Talking therapy can offer space to explore early attachment and understand how past and present experiences and relationships may influence emotions, behaviour and identity. Sessions are guided by your pace, focusing on your experiences and what feels most difficult. The aim is to develop insight and resilience, encourage greater self-compassion and support healthier ways of relating to yourself and others.
My first session
I offer a 15-minute introductory call where you can ask any questions and briefly discuss what has brought you to counselling. This also gives you an opportunity to hear about my approach and decide whether it feels right for you. If you choose to continue, we can arrange a regular day and time. The initial session lasts one hour to assess your needs. Ongoing counselling sessions are 50 minutes.
