Availability

I currently work remotely through Matone Counseling and Testing in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, with plans to relocate to the United Kingdom 1 September 2026.

My availability can be flexible for my clients, but generally I work from 4:30 pm - 12:30 am (GMT) (12:30 - 8:30 pm EST).

About me and my therapy practice

Overall, my goal is for the time you spend with me to be - outside of your own bed at home - the safest you feel all week. I highly value counselling ethics, therapeutic rapport and client confidentiality, to the point that if you feel that I am not a "good fit" for you I both encourage you to find a therapist who is and, if asked/permitted, I will help you find that match.

Along with my specialisation in trauma recovery, I work with personality disorders - primarily Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD) - issues facing teenagers and young adults (~age 12-29), Level 1 Autism Spectrum Disorder, Gender Dysphoria and transition, prolonged grief, specific phobia, issues faced in middle age ("mid-life crisis," preparing for retirement, "empty nest syndrome," etc), childhood and relationship abuse recovery, and compulsive sexual behaviour disorders (CSBD). I also provide couples counselling and sex & intimacy counselling (NOTE: I do not provide sex therapy).

Practice description

My counselling philosophy is based in Existential Therapy and, while I employ an eclectic approach, my training background is largely in behavioral therapy and traditional psychotherapy - or "talk therapy" - with strong focus in trauma recovery and identity work. I have a decade's worth of experience in both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and am certified in Written Exposure Therapy.

I provide both short- and long-term treatment. However, my goal is not for my clients to see me for the rest of their lives nor become dependent upon therapy to function. Ultimately, my goal is that by the completion of your treatment plan, you will have attained the knowledge, tools and awareness to properly regulate your own thoughts, emotions and impulses to the point that maintenance therapy - coming in no more often than once per month - has become your baseline need.

My first session

In our first session, the two of us will conduct a standard intake during which I'll gather information ranging from your reasons for seeking psychotherapy and your goals for treatment to your medical history, as well as basic demographic information. I will also go over my professional experience and therapeutic approach, my counselling philosophy, my training and qualifications, techniques I employ, your confidential information and how it is protected, session fees, and your recourse should you believe that any part of your treatment has been improper or constitutes malpractice.

This session is also designed for us to begin getting to know each other and to give you the chance to decide whether or not you feel me to be a good fit for your therapeutic needs. My goal is for you to work with a counsellor who both matches your treatment requirements and whose approach, techniques and personality are most conducive to your recovery. If that counsellor is myself, wonderful! If not, I will work with you to match you with someone who is a better fit.

At the end of this session we'll determine if my personality and style of practise are a good match for you and, if so, set up our first therapeutic appointment; this session will include assessment, diagnosis - if appropriate - and the beginnings of an overall treatment plan outlining specific goals for your treatment and recovery.
