About me and my therapy practice

There are times in life when we may feel anxious, sad, overwhelmed or uncertain, or find ourselves struggling with relationships or patterns of behaviour that are difficult to understand. Sometimes we know what has brought us to therapy; at other times we may simply feel that something isn't quite right.

I offer a warm, confidential and thoughtful space in which we can explore these experiences together.

My approach is psychodynamic, which means that I am interested in how our past experiences and relationships may continue to influence our present lives, often in ways of which we are not fully aware. By exploring feelings, thoughts and patterns that emerge, we may begin to understand ourselves more deeply and discover different ways of relating to ourselves and others.

I see therapy as a collaborative process, in which the relationship between us is itself an important part of the work. I aim to offer a space where you can feel listened to, understood and able to speak freely, including about feelings that may be difficult to put into words.

Alongside my general practice, I have a particular interest and specialist training in pregnancy and infant loss and infertility.

Practice description

I offer a free initial 30-minute consultation, either in person, online or by telephone. This gives us an opportunity to meet, talk about what has brought you to therapy, and consider together whether working with me feels right for you. It is also an opportunity for you to ask questions about the therapeutic process.

If we decide to work together, we would usually meet at the same time each week for a 50-minute session. Our work may be shorter-term or open-ended, depending on your circumstances and what you hope to explore.

You do not need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to say. We can begin with whatever feels most important to you, allowing time to explore thoughts, feelings, relationships and experiences as they arise.

I work with people experiencing a range of emotional difficulties, including anxiety, depression, bereavement, relationship difficulties and significant life transitions. I also have specialist training in supporting those affected by miscarriage, pregnancy and infant loss, infertility and fertility treatment.

I recognise that beginning therapy can feel like a significant step. My hope is to offer a consistent, thoughtful and supportive therapeutic relationship in which you can explore your experiences at your own pace.

My first session

I offer a free initial 30-minute consultation, either in person, online or by telephone.

This is an opportunity for us to meet and talk about what has brought you to therapy, what you might be hoping for, and any questions or concerns you may have about beginning the process.

It is also a chance for you to get a sense of how I work and whether you feel comfortable talking with me. There is no obligation to continue.

If we decide to work together, we can discuss practical arrangements and agree on a regular time for our sessions, which last 50 minutes.
