About me and my therapy practice
Hello, and welcome.
I'm Jamal, a qualified counsellor with a Level 4 Diploma in Counselling. I have experience working within various counselling agencies, private practices and educational settings, supporting both adults and young people through a wide range of emotional and personal challenges.
I understand that reaching out for support can feel like a big step. Life can be difficult at times, and there may be moments when you feel overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, low, or unsure of how to move forward. My aim is to offer a warm, supportive and confidential space where you can talk openly and be heard without judgement.
I believe that every person is unique, and I will work alongside you at a pace that feels comfortable. Whether you are facing anxiety, stress, relationship difficulties, loss, low self-esteem, life changes, or simply need a space to make sense of your thoughts and feelings, I am here to support you.
My approach is grounded in empathy, honesty and genuine human connection. Building a trusting relationship is at the heart of my work, and I strive to create an environment where you feel safe, valued and understood.
Over the years, I have supported people from a variety of backgrounds and life experiences. This has taught me the importance of listening with curiosity, compassion and respect, recognising that each person's story is their own.
Practice description
I offer a warm, supportive and confidential counselling space where you can talk openly about whatever is on your mind, without fear of judgement. My aim is to provide a safe and trusting environment where you feel heard, understood and accepted. I offer in person and online sessions. These are available in blocks of 6,10 & 12 sessions
I understand that seeking counselling can feel daunting, particularly if it is your first experience of therapy. I believe that building a strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of meaningful change, and I work at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Whether you are experiencing anxiety, stress, low mood, relationship difficulties, loss, life changes or simply feeling overwhelmed, I will work alongside you with empathy, respect and compassion.
My approach is person-centred, meaning I believe you are the expert in your own life. Rather than giving advice or telling you what to do, I will support you in exploring your thoughts, feelings and experiences, helping you develop greater self-awareness, clarity and confidence in your own decisions.
I have experience supporting both adults and young people from a range of backgrounds and life experiences. Every person’s story is unique, and I strive to create a space where you feel comfortable bringing your authentic self, whatever challenges you may be facing.
Counselling can offer an opportunity to pause, reflect and make sense of difficult experiences. Together, we can explore what is important to you and work towards greater understanding, resilience and emotional wellbeing.
My first session
I believe that finding the right counsellor is an important part of the therapeutic process. Before arranging our first session, I offer a free initial telephone conversation where we can discuss what has brought you to counselling, what you are hoping to gain from therapy, and whether my approach feels right for you. This also provides an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about counselling and how I work.
If we decide to move forward together, our first session will include an initial assessment. This helps me gain a better understanding of your current circumstances, personal history, presenting concerns and therapeutic goals. The assessment also allows us to explore how we might work together and ensure that counselling is appropriate for your needs at this time.
The first session is a chance for us to begin building a therapeutic relationship in a safe, supportive and confidential environment. There is no pressure to share more than you feel comfortable with, and we will work at a pace that feels right for you.
My aim is to ensure that you feel welcomed, heard and supported from the very beginning of our work together.
