About me and my therapy practice
Hello I’m Carrie, and I offer a calm, supportive space to help you explore what’s been difficult, at your own pace and in your own way.
I came to counselling through a long-standing interest in understanding people and what shapes our thoughts, feelings and experiences. Over time, this developed into a desire to offer a space where people can feel genuinely heard and supported.
I now work as an integrative counsellor, drawing on different approaches to suit you as an individual. At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship – creating a space where you can explore things safely, without pressure or judgement.
I have a particular interest in supporting people experiencing trauma, bereavement and the impact of illness or life changes, including times where you may feel you’ve lost a sense of who you are.
Above all, I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of effective counselling. My role is not to tell you what to do, but to work alongside you, helping you gain greater understanding, resilience and confidence to move forward in a way that feels right for you.
Practice description
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, and I understand how difficult it can be to reach out. My aim is to provide a warm, welcoming and non-judgemental space where you feel safe to talk openly, at your own pace.
I work with adults experiencing a range of difficulties, including anxiety, abuse, bereavement, health anxiety, trauma, low self-esteem, caring responsibilities and life transitions. Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or trying to make sense of difficult experiences, we can work together to understand what is happening and explore ways of moving forward.
My practice is grounded in person-centred counselling, meaning I believe the therapeutic relationship is central to positive change. Alongside this, I draw on other evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Transactional Analysis (TA), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), tailoring sessions to your individual needs and goals.
I believe lasting change comes through feeling genuinely heard, understood and accepted. Together we can explore patterns, develop self-awareness, build resilience and strengthen self-compassion, helping you make meaningful changes that feel right for you.
I offer face-to-face counselling in Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and online sessions across the UK. Whatever brings you to counselling, I will work alongside you with empathy, honesty and respect, supporting you to find your own strengths and move towards the life you want to live.
My first session
Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, and I understand how difficult it can be to reach out. To help ease this process, I offer a free 15-minute introductory telephone call. This gives us an opportunity to briefly discuss what has brought you to counselling, answer any questions you may have, and see if we feel like a good fit to work together.
Following this, our first full session provides a gentle and supportive space for you to begin sharing your experiences at your own pace. During this session, we will explore what you would like to gain from counselling, discuss any relevant background information, and begin to identify your goals. There is no pressure to share everything at once — we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
I offer both face-to-face sessions and online sessions across the UK, allowing you to choose the format that best suits your needs and lifestyle.
My aim in the first session is to help you feel safe, heard and understood, while also giving you a clear sense of how I work. Together, we can begin to build a trusting therapeutic relationship, which forms the foundation for meaningful and lasting change.
