About me and my therapy practice

I’m a qualified therapist experienced in working with anxiety, stress, depression, family & relationship issues, low mood and other concerns. I worked at the University of Surrey for 2 years, supporting young people (18+) with a range of issues through short-term solution-focused therapy. Prior to this, I worked at Cruse, the UK’s leading bereavement charity, helping individuals, young and old, through loss and bereavement.

I am also trained in working with neurodivergent adults and young people. I have provided support for diagnosed and undiagnosed ADHD, ADD, ASD (Autism) and OCD.

Whilst at the University of Surrey, I supported students with academic, social, health, identity & family/relationship issues. At Cruse, I provided support to people who were going through one of the most painful times in life. I also worked at a Surrey-based charity, helping individuals (male and female) who were experiencing or had experienced domestic abuse.

Prior to becoming a counsellor, I worked in both the corporate and not-for-profit sectors. I am sensitive to and understand the pressure of work-related issues in large corporations and SMEs.

Practice description

I work with young people, adults and the elderly.

As an integrative therapist (person-centred and psychodynamic), my approach is client-led. I will work with you on current issues as well as exploring past experiences and relationships. I sometimes integrate psychoeducation and CBT, where appropriate. These can include breathing techniques, coping strategies, support aids and self-help models.

If you want a safe and confidential space to explore your thoughts and feelings, the sessions I offer are tailored to your needs.

My first session

Choosing a counsellor can be daunting and it is important to find the right person for you. Prior to our first session, and before you commit to therapy, I offer a free 20-minute telephone or in-person conversation to discuss your needs and answer any questions you might have.

During our first session, we will establish how we wish to contract and set boundaries, how we’ll work together, your expectations, confidentiality and what has brought you to therapy.

Sessions are 50 minutes and can be a single session, short term or longer term. Regular sessions can be arranged for a set time, usually on a weekly basis. I will work collaboratively with you to establish what you would like from the sessions and regularly review our progress to ensure you are getting what you want and need from our sessions.
