About me and my therapy practice

I like people. I'm genuinely curious about what makes them tick - their stories, their contradictions, the moments that shaped them before they had words for it. That curiosity hasn't dimmed in all the years I've been doing this work, and I think it's what I'd most want someone to know about me before anything else.

I work in a way that's less about quick fixes or coping strategies, and more about gently exploring the patterns and stories we carry - often without knowing it. These scripts shape our relationships, our choices, our sense of who we are. Every session is a little different, because every person is different - but there's usually a quality to our time together I'd describe as unhurried. We're not racing toward a solution. We're paying attention to what you bring that day, to what seems to sit beneath it, and to what starts to shift when it finally gets some space.

We talk. And sometimes we don't - silence can be a transformative part of the process. When we do talk, we're both listening for the things that keep recurring: the patterns you've noticed in yourself, the feelings that show up at inconvenient times, the relationships that seem to replay the same dynamic.

I work with individuals and groups, including an all-male therapy group. I find something deeply meaningful about creating space where men can be honest - often for the first time - without the usual armour.

Music is another thread. I'm part of a collective supporting mental health in the music industry and care about the people who make that world dance and sing.

If you'd prefer to get out of the room, we can walk out on the beach (tide allowing). Some of the most meaningful conversations  have happened side-by-side, with the horizon in front of us

Practice description

I'm based in South Manchester (in 2 locations), in Birkenhead Park and in Hoylake.  I work with adult clients in person and online. Sessions are available individually, as a couple, or as part of a group - and, for those who are local, as walking sessions on Hoylake Beach.

Individual therapy offers a private, confidential space to explore whatever you're carrying. Sessions are typically 50 minutes and we'd usually meet weekly, at least to begin with. There's no fixed number of sessions: some people come for a focused piece of work, others for something longer and more exploratory. We'd figure that out together.

Couples therapy is a space where both of you can speak and be heard - often about things that have been difficult to say directly to each other. I work with couples navigating conflict, disconnection, significant life changes, or simply a sense that something has shifted between them.

Group therapy - I run an all-male therapy groups, which meet regularly in Manchester and online. Group therapy offers something individual therapy can't quite replicate: the experience of being honest with other men, hearing yourself reflected back, and realising you're less alone in what you carry than you thought.

Walking sessions take place on Hoylake Beach on the Wirral. There's something about being outside - the movement, the space, the absence of four walls - that can make it easier to say the things that are hard to say.

I also have a specialism supporting people working in the music industry, through my affiliation with the Music Industry Therapist Collective. Many of my clients work in the creative industries.
