Availability
I currently work with clients both online and in person in South-West London. In exceptional circumstances, I offer therapy sessions at the client's home. This may be particularly helpful for individuals who find it difficult to leave their home due to recent traumatic experiences or significant psychological distress.
I work from 8am to 8pm on Monday to Thursday, although I have limited availability at present. Please contact me to discuss your availability.
About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative psychotherapist and EMDR therapist with experience working across NHS services, charities and private practice. I am currently completing a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology (DPsych) and have particular experience working with trauma, whether arising from childhood experiences, a single life-changing event or prolonged difficulties. I also support people experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-worth, grief and relationship difficulties.
My approach is grounded in the humanistic values of counselling psychology, placing respect, autonomy, empowerment and the therapeutic relationship at the heart of my practice. I take a holistic, evidence-informed approach, recognising that our emotional wellbeing is shaped by our personal histories, relationships and wider life circumstances.
Working integratively means that I draw on different therapeutic approaches, including psychodynamic, person-centred, cognitive behavioural and trauma-focused therapies, tailoring our work to your individual needs, experiences and goals. This may involve exploring how past experiences shape your present feelings and relationships, developing new perspectives and coping strategies, or using evidence-based approaches such as EMDR to process traumatic experiences.
Above all, I aim to offer a collaborative and compassionate therapeutic relationship in which you feel understood, supported and empowered to make meaningful and lasting changes in your life.
Qualifications & training
Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and the British Psychological Society (BPS), and work in accordance with their professional and ethical standards. I am also a member of the Division of Counselling Psychology
• Counselling Psychology PsychD, 2022- Present.
• Postgraduate Diploma in psychotherapy and counselling.
• MSc (First class) in Psychology.
Practice description
I work with individuals aged 16 and over, from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences. I recognise that people come to therapy for different reasons, whether to work through particular experiences, difficulties arising from their self-identity, or to make positive changes in their lives where they feel stuck or unsettled.
In my experience, challenges such as relationship difficulties, work-related stress, bereavement, health issues or parenting can become catalysts for self-reflection and a desire to make positive changes. At other times, you may want to explore longstanding patterns in how you feel, think or relate to others, or make sense of experiences that continue to affect you in the present.
I believe therapy is a collaborative process in which you are the expert in your own experiences. My role is to help you explore these experiences from different perspectives, make connections between your past and present, and develop ways to make positive changes. Where appropriate, we may also work more directly with traumatic experiences using EMDR.
I place particular importance on developing a trusting therapeutic relationship, recognising that feeling safe, understood and respected is fundamental to meaningful therapeutic work. I aim to provide a non-judgemental and confidential space where you can speak openly and at your own pace.
My first session
I'm happy to discuss what you are looking for from therapy and in your therapist. I offer an initial 15-minute consultation at no charge, so we can decide if I'm the right fit. Feel free to email me at jessicahobart6@gmail.com, and I'll get back to you within three working days to arrange a time that works for you.
Sessions are 50 minutes. I offer long-term as well as time-limited therapy, which may be influenced by what you are looking to work through, your time-frame and if you have a type of modality in mind. Our first session is a chance for us to explore what brings you to therapy and how I can best support you.
