About me and my therapy practice
If you're reading this feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unsure whether therapy is even for you, you're not alone. Many people come to therapy carrying things they've never properly said out loud. Some know exactly what happened. Others just know something doesn't feel right, and they're tired of holding it all together on their own.
I offer a calm, compassionate space where you can begin from wherever you are. You don't need the right words. You don't need a neat story. You won't be pushed to talk about anything before you're ready.
My work is grounded in trauma-informed practice and shaped by years of supporting people through some of the hardest experiences life can bring. I work with adults and young people (16+) who may be living with the effects of trauma, abuse, anxiety, grief, shame, coercive control, sexual violence, or painful experiences from the past that still affect the present.
What matters most to me is that therapy feels safe. Not clinical. Not cold. Not like you're being analysed from across the room. Healing starts when someone feels genuinely heard, believed, and met with care.
Practice description
I'm a qualified trauma therapist and lecturer, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the Chartered College of Teaching. I work in an ethical, confidential, and evidence-informed way.
I bring extensive experience from social work, education, and sexual violence support, including current work as an online support worker for a Rape Crisis Centre. I've recently completed an MA in Trauma Informed Practice. Crucially, I also bring lived understanding of trauma, which means I work with deep empathy, steadiness, and without judgement.
I offer online therapy and walk-and-talk sessions in Darlington, including South Park. Any Park local to the client can be arranged. For many people, walking side by side in nature feels easier than sitting face to face. It softens the pressure, creates space to breathe, and helps difficult conversations come more naturally. For others, the privacy of Zoom feels like the safest place to begin. We'll work out together what feels right for you.
Trauma isn't always dramatic or obvious - it often leaves invisible wounds. Trauma-informed therapy recognises how distressing life experiences, whether sudden or prolonged, can shape your thoughts, emotions, behaviours and nervous system responses in the present.
You don't have to shock me.
You don't have to tidy your story up for me.
My role is simply to help you feel safe enough to begin.
"You will be supported throughout your journey with compassion, safety, and dignity"
My first session
People often worry that trauma therapy will force them to dig up painful memories or push them into emotional overwhelm. That's not how I work.
I offer a free one-hour initial assessment with no obligation to continue. We use this time to get to know each other, talk about what's brought you here, and see if we feel like a good fit. You can ask any questions about the process.
We build a stable base before anything else. Before exploring what happened in the past or making big changes, we strengthen the ground beneath you. This means you leave sessions feeling more capable, not emotionally drained.
Sessions are always tailored to what you actually need. Some people need to understand why they keep repeating patterns. Others need practical tools to get through the day. Some need to process experiences they've never spoken about. We always start where you are.
You set the pace. You're never pushed to share more than you're ready for. Therapy should feel safe, not scary.
Standard sessions last 50 minutes and cost £60. I offer a concession rate for families on low income.
