About me and my therapy practice
WHEN DID YOU LAST FEEL LIKE YOURSELF?
Hello, I'm Debs.
Sometimes life becomes so much about meeting everyone else's needs that we lose sight of our own.
"You might recognise yourself here…"
- You're always putting everyone else's needs before your own.
- You're navigating divorce, co-parenting or the complexities of a blended family.
- You find yourself repeating relationship patterns you don't fully understand.
- You're struggling with boundaries, guilt or the feeling that you've lost your own identity.
- You're going through a life transition and wondering what comes next.
Whether you're struggling with relationships, navigating family changes, feeling overwhelmed or simply wondering where you fit into it all, counselling can offer an opportunity to reconnect with yourself.
Practice description
As a person-centred counsellor, I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings without pressure or expectation.
I have a particular interest in family dynamics, divorce, co-parenting and blended families, informed by both my professional training and personal experience. I understand that relationships can be wonderfully rewarding but also complicated, and that finding your own voice within them isn't always easy.
My approach is rooted in person-centred therapy, while drawing on psychodynamic and Gestalt ideas to help us explore how your past experiences and present feelings may be shaping your life today.
I won't tell you what you should do or who you should be. Instead, we'll work together to help you understand yourself, recognise your needs and find your own way forward.
Our sessions will be 50 minutes long and completely confidential, within the usual professional and safeguarding boundaries.
Whatever has brought you to counselling, you don't have to have all the answers. Just time and space to pause, reflect and reconnect with yourself. Together, we can explore what matters to you, understand what may be holding you back and help you find the confidence to move forward, at your own pace and in your own way.
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute consultation ahead of your first session. This lets me get more familiar with what has brought you to therapy and gives you a chance to ask questions and decide whether we can work well together.
Our first session is a more in-depth opportunity for us to get to know one another. We will begin by talking through our counselling agreement, or contract, which sets out how we will work together. This includes confidentiality and its limits, session length and frequency, fees, cancellations and professional boundaries.
We will then gently explore what has brought you to counselling, what you hope to gain from our sessions and any expectations or concerns you may have. You don't need to arrive with a clear goal or know exactly what you want to talk about. Sometimes simply having the space to be heard is a valuable starting point.
Above all, our first session is about establishing trust, ensuring you understand how we will work together and giving you the opportunity to decide whether I am the right counsellor for you.
