About me and my therapy practice
As a fully qualified integrative therapeutic counsellor, with a Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling, I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches to tailor our work to your individual needs. This means your therapy is not a “one-size-fits-all” process, but a collaborative journey shaped around you, your experiences, your goals and your way of making sense of the world.
Alongside supporting clients with anxiety, depression, bereavement and grief, trauma, abuse, exam stress, and questions around sexuality and gender, I have a particular interest in pregnancy, motherhood, miscarriage and menopause.
These life transitions can bring significant emotional, physical and personal changes, and they are not always easy to talk about. Whether you are coping with loss, adjusting to motherhood, facing fertility challenges or navigating menopause, I offer a compassionate and supportive space where you can explore your experiences openly, feel heard and make sense of what you are going through at your own pace.
Together, we might explore your past experiences and how they may be influencing the present, as well as looking at thoughts, feelings, beliefs and patterns of behaviour. Where appropriate, we can consider different ways of responding and develop strategies that may help you feel more able to cope.
My intention is to offer a grounded, genuine therapeutic relationship where your feelings, your history and your hopes are met with curiosity, respect and compassion. Therapy can be a place not only for healing, but also for growth, clarity and greater self-awareness.
Practice description
My aim is to help you feel safe enough to be yourself and explore whatever has brought you here, at a pace that feels right for you.
I'm interested in how our earlier experiences and relationships can shape the way we see ourselves and the world around us. My hope is that exploring these experiences together can help you develop a greater understanding of what is happening for you now, and how this may be affecting your thoughts, feelings and relationships.
We might gently explore thought processes, beliefs and behaviours, and look at different ways of responding that feel more helpful for you.
I believe you are the expert in your own life. My role isn't to tell you what to do, but to offer non-judgemental curiosity, compassion and, where helpful, a different perspective.
My first session
Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and for you to begin sharing your story, at your own pace. We’ll work through an assessment together, which will help me understand what has brought you to counselling, what you would like support with, and what you hope to gain from our work together.
There will also be space for you to ask any questions, talk about what you need from counselling, and get a sense of whether you feel comfortable working with me. I believe it’s important that you feel heard, respected and able to be yourself from the beginning.
The first session is not about having to tell me everything straight away. We can take our time and focus on what feels most helpful for you.
