About me and my therapy practice
Are you struggling with anxiety, overthinking or low self-esteem? Perhaps you're finding yourself caught up in self-criticism, putting pressure on yourself to meet others' expectations, or struggling to cope with grief, loss or a difficult period in your life.
Whatever has brought you to counselling, I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly, make sense of your experiences and explore what might help you move forward.
I am an integrative counsellor, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on your individual needs. These include person-centred counselling, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and mindfulness-based techniques.
Some people come to counselling simply wanting a space where they can feel heard, understood and less alone. Others may be looking for practical strategies to help them manage difficult thoughts and feelings or make changes in their lives. Often, it's a combination of both. Our work might involve exploring past experiences and understanding how these may be influencing the way you think, feel and respond to situations today. Together, we can find an approach that feels right for you.
I have a particular interest in supporting people experiencing anxiety, low self-esteem, grief and bereavement, and challenges associated with ADHD and neurodivergence.
Alongside my private practice, I provide bereavement counselling in a hospice setting, supporting people navigating grief, loss and significant life changes.
Above all, I believe that a trusting therapeutic relationship, built on empathy, understanding and acceptance, provides the foundation for meaningful change.
Practice description
I offer individual counselling for adults, either in person from my private counselling room in Leith, Edinburgh, or remotely via Zoom or telephone.
My counselling room is a comfortable, calm and safe space where you can be accepted for who you are without judgement.
Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £60. We would usually meet weekly, although we can discuss what works best for you.
I offer both short-term and longer-term counselling, depending on what you would like to achieve. We will regularly review our work together, giving us an opportunity to reflect on how things are going and to ensure it is meeting your needs.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute online consultation before booking your first session. This gives us an opportunity to briefly discuss what brings you to counselling, ask any questions and see whether we might be a good fit.
During our first full session, we'll spend some time exploring what has brought you to therapy, what you are hoping to gain and how we might work together.
I'll also explain confidentiality and our counselling agreement, and we'll discuss any questions or concerns you may have.
There's no expectation to share everything straight away. We can take things at a pace that feels comfortable for you
