About me and my therapy practice

I am a qualified humanistic counsellor offering online counselling. Online counselling may suit you if you want regular counselling sessions from home, need more flexibility around work or caring responsibilities, or prefer not to travel for sessions. I work with people exploring relationship issues, stress, feeling stuck, confidence, identity, belonging, bereavement, grief and loss.

Looking for therapy can feel vulnerable. You may be wondering: will this person be able to understand me? Will I feel judged? Will I do therapy right? Will I have to fit into their method, or will they meet me as I am?

You may be used to keeping going, thinking deeply, working hard, or trying to manage things well. You may be someone others rely on, while inside things feel very different: stressed, self-critical, overwhelmed, angry, grieving, lonely, or hard to understand.

This may include intensity: making decisions, carrying responsibility, staying in control, or holding a lot for yourself or other people. Some experiences may also be harder to name, less visible from the outside, or held carefully because they have not always felt safe, welcome, or possible to express. Together, we can be curious about your strength, vulnerability, identity, background and emotional expression: how they have helped you, how they shape your relationships, and where they may feel difficult now.

My style is warm, engaged and relational. I listen carefully and try to stay closely attuned to your experience. I reflect with you and pay attention to what is happening between us. My aim is to offer a therapeutic relationship where you feel met with respect as a whole person, with space for the many parts of your experience.

Practice description

I am trained in Person-centred, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt approaches. You do not need to know what these terms mean; we can talk about them if they are relevant or important to you. I work collaboratively and within my training and competence, which means we can think together about your experience, what you want to understand or change, and what strengths and resources you already bring. I do not usually give direct advice, but where appropriate I can share psychoeducation, practical coping strategies and grounding tools, while keeping the focus on understanding you and what is happening in your life.

My first session

When you get in touch, we can arrange an initial consultation. This first meeting is a chance for us to meet, talk about what brings you to counselling, and consider whether I am the right counsellor for you at this stage.

The initial consultation lasts 50 minutes and costs £35. It is not a commitment to ongoing therapy. It gives both of us time to think about what you are looking for, what I can offer, and what the next step might be. We may decide to begin working together, or you may feel that I am not the right fit for you. I may also suggest another therapist, service, or type of support if I think that would be more appropriate.

During the consultation, I will ask some questions about your current situation, relevant background, support network, and what you are hoping for from counselling. Some of these questions can feel personal, especially when speaking to someone new, but they help me understand your needs and think carefully about whether I can offer appropriate support.

If we decide to work together, ongoing counselling sessions are weekly, last 50 minutes, and cost £65. For online sessions, you will need a private space and a reliable internet connection. We can take time to talk through any questions you have before making that decision.
