About me and my therapy practice

I offer a warm, compassionate and non judgmental space where adults, and young people 11+ can feel heard, accepted and supported.  My approach is grounded in person-centred therapy, and I believe that, given the right therapeutic relationship, people have the capacity to understand themselves more deeply, and move towards lasting change.

Alongside my person-centred foundation, I work in a trauma informed way.  I understand the lasting impact that trauma can have on emotions, relationships, self esteem, the nervous system, and everyday life.

My professional experience includes working in education for over 10 years, and working with specialist agencies supporting surviors of sexual violence and abuse.  I also work with organisations providing counselling for children, young people and adults with a wide range of emotional and mental health concerns.  I have also supported neurodivergent clients through specialised charity work, enabling me to bring both knowledge and sensitivity to my practise.

Whether your struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, grief, relationship difficulties, life transitions or simply feeling overwhelmed, I aim to offer a therapeutic space where you feel genuinely understood, accepted and empowered to move forward at a pace that feels right for you.

Practice description

Taking the first step towards counselling can feel daunting, and it's important that you find a therapist you feel comfortable with.  I believe that a strong therapeutic relationship is at the heart of meaningful change, which is why I offer a FREE 15 minute introductory consultation.  This gives us the opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy, explore what you hope to gain from counselling, and most importantly, see whether we feel like the right fit for one another.  There is no obligation to continue, and you are welcome to ask any questions you may have.

I offer face to face counselling from a peaceful, comfortable therapy room in Wellingborough, providing a calm and confidential space where you can feel safe to explore whatever is on your mind.   If attending in person is not suitable, I also offer online and telephone counselling, allowing you to access support in a way that feels most convenient and comfortable for you.

If you would like to find out more about how I work or arrange your free introductory consultation, please visit: www.openpathcounsellingservices.co.uk.

I look forward to meeting you and supporting you on your journey.

My first session

Your first counselling session, is an opportunity for us to get to know one another in a safe, supportive and confidential space.

I will be able to answer any questions you have about the counselling agreement, which explains confidentiality, session arrangments and practical aspects of our work together.

We will also spend time exploring what has brought you to counselling, and what you hope to gain from therapy.  Together, we can discuss your goals, although there is no pressure to have everything worked out.  Sometimes people arrive knowing exactly what they want to focus on, while others simply know that something does not feel right.  Both are completly okay.

We will move at a pace that feels comfortable for you, ensuring you feel heard, respected and supported.

As therapy progresses we will regularly review your goals together, recognising that they may change as you understanding of yourself grows.
