About me and my therapy practice

I am an integrative counsellor who believes that the relationship between counsellor and client is central to meaningful therapeutic work.

My approach is warm, compassionate and non-judgemental. I recognise that reaching out for counselling can feel daunting, and I aim to create an environment where people feel safe enough to talk openly and explore their experiences at their own pace.

I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches, adapting my work to the individual rather than expecting everyone to fit one particular model.

My own worldview is informed by my Christian faith, while recognising and respecting that this will not reflect everyone’s beliefs or experiences.

I believe everyone deserves to be listened to, understood and treated with dignity. Sometimes having the opportunity to put things into words is where a different understanding can begin.

Practice description

AfterWords Counselling offers a confidential, welcoming and supportive space for individuals and couples experiencing difficulties in their lives or relationships.

Based in the Portadown area of County Armagh, I offer face-to-face and online counselling, with a commitment to providing a thoughtful and respectful service.

I work with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, grief and loss, relationship difficulties and challenges affecting emotional wellbeing.

My practice is grounded in an integrative approach, recognising that each person’s experiences, circumstances and needs are different. I aim to offer a space where people can explore their experiences without judgement and begin to make sense of what has brought them to counselling.

At AfterWords Counselling, there is room for what follows.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another and to talk about what has brought you to counselling. There is no expectation that you have everything worked out or know exactly where to begin.

We will take time to discuss what you hope to gain from counselling, explore any questions or concerns you may have, and talk about how we might work together. I will also explain confidentiality and the boundaries of our work.

My aim is to help you feel comfortable, heard and able to approach counselling at a pace that feels right for you.
