About me and my therapy practice

When life gets difficult, it can feel like everything is just building up — stress, anxiety, relationship issues, or just feeling stuck and not really knowing what to do next. Sometimes it can feel easier to just get on with things and not talk about it, but you don’t have to carry it on your own.

I offer a warm, non-judgemental space where you can just talk things through at your own pace. You don’t need to have the right words, and you don’t need to have it all figured out before you come. We can start wherever you are.

I really see your background, culture, family experiences and identity as a big part of who you are and how you experience things. It’s all connected. In our work together, you won’t need to over-explain yourself or feel like you have to justify anything — you can just be yourself.

I work as an integrative therapist, which basically means I draw from a few different approaches, psychodynamic, person-centred, Internal Family Systems (IFS) and CBT depending on what feels helpful for you. Sometimes that might mean looking at deeper patterns or past experiences, sometimes it’s more about what’s going on right now, and sometimes it’s just having space to talk things through and make sense of it all.

Alongside my counselling and psychotherapy training, I’ve got over 7 years’ experience working with young people, young adults and adults across education, the criminal justice system and community settings. A lot of my work has been around identity, relationships, trauma, emotional regulation and life changes.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if it’s your first time. You don’t need to have everything worked out we can figure it out together, at your pace.

If it feels like it could be helpful, you’re welcome to get in touch and we can have an initial chat and see how it feels.

Practice description

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, especially if you’re not quite sure what to expect or where to begin. I see therapy as something we make sense of together, rather than something you need to arrive at already knowing.

I work in a way that is flexible and responsive to you. This means I draw from different therapeutic approaches depending on what feels most helpful in the room. At times we might look at patterns in relationships or past experiences, and at other times we may focus more on what is happening for you day-to-day. What matters most is that the work feels right for you and moves at a pace you can manage.

I aim to offer a space that feels steady, warm and collaborative  somewhere you can slow things down and be honest about what’s going on, without feeling judged or rushed. Over time, we can begin to understand the patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and explore new ways of relating to yourself and others that feel more helpful and supportive.

A lot of my experience has been working with people navigating identity, trauma, relationships, emotional regulation and significant life changes, across education, community settings and the criminal justice system. I bring this background into the work, alongside a belief that people make sense in the context of their experiences, not in isolation from them.

My fee is £60 for a 50-minute session, with a limited number of reduced-fee spaces at £35 for those who need it. I also offer a free 20-minute initial conversation online or by phone, where you can ask questions, talk a bit about what’s bringing you to therapy, and see how it feels to speak with me  with no pressure to continue.

My first session

In our first session, we start by talking about what has brought you to therapy and what you would like from it. You don’t need to have everything clear in your mind or know exactly what to say. We can take it slowly and start wherever feels easiest for you.

As we work together, we may begin to look at what is going on underneath the surface. This can include the beliefs you have about yourself, the ways you cope when things feel difficult, emotional patterns, and experiences from the past that may still be affecting how you feel now. Sometimes we also notice ways of protecting yourself that made sense at the time, but might not feel as helpful anymore.

I aim to offer a steady, supportive space where you feel listened to and not judged. The idea is to help you feel more connected to yourself, so things inside do not feel so overwhelming or disconnected from how you are living day to day.

The first session is also a chance for you to get a feel for how I work and whether it feels comfortable for you. Some people talk a lot in the first session, others take more time. Both are fine. There is no pressure either way.

We may start to notice themes, but there is no pressure to fix anything quickly. Therapy is not rushed and we go at a pace that feels manageable for you.

I will also check in with you as we go, so if anything feels too much or you want to slow down, we can do that. You are always in control of the pace.

By the end of the session, the hope is that you feel a bit clearer about what therapy with me might be like and whether it feels like the right fit for you. You are welcome to ask questions at any point, and there is no pressure to decide anything straight away.
