About me and my therapy practice
I work with adult clients (aged 16 and over), to reduce feelings of anxiety, overwhelm and stress amongst many other themes. I want the clients that I work with to feel comfortable and heard. My training is in integrative counselling and psychotherapy, meaning that I adapt my approach to the needs of the people I work with. People come to me with a whole range of themes, such as burnout, depression, bereavement, dissatisfaction with life, relationship breakdown and many more. We will work collaboratively to get to the heart of these issues and help you feel more able to manage what life throws at you.
For some people, our work may involve working together in discussion to identify the patterns that are keeping them stuck or dissatisfied with life. Others might prefer a more goal-oriented approach to develop the skills to manage anxiety and lessen its impact in everyday life. In initial sessions and as we go, we can reflect on what is working for you.
Practice description
If you are interested in working together, let's have a chat. I offer 20 minute initial consultations completely free, so we can talk and see if working together feels like the right fit for you. In that session we can also decide whether you would like our sessions to be face-to-face or online. Face-to-face sessions are based in Leeds City Centre, online clients can be throughout the UK.
I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is at the heart of effective therapy. My aim is to provide a warm, accepting and confidential space where you can feel comfortable to talk openly, at your own pace, without fear of judgement.
I enjoy working with clients in both shorter-term, focused therapy around a particular issue, and longer-term therapy where there is space for deeper exploration, greater self-understanding and broader, lasting change.
At regular agreed points we will review how the process of therapy is feeling for you, to consider how many more sessions you may require and to see whether we need to shift our focus and how we are working together. I value openness and feedback from my clients.
My first session
In our first session we will discuss the agreement we will have for working together, including safeguarding information, communication, cancellation policies and more. The aim of this is to establish important clarity, to help you know what to expect and to keep you safe.
We also will use some brief questionnaires to assess where you are in starting therapy, helping us to track change as therapy progresses.
