About me and my therapy practice
I offer a warm, welcoming and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, accepted and supported. I believe that every person has the capacity for growth and change when they are met with empathy, understanding and genuine respect.
As a humanistic therapist, I work with you to explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Together, we can develop a deeper understanding of the challenges you are facing and help you find your own way forward.
Building a trusting therapeutic relationship is at the heart of my practice. I believe that feeling safe, valued and understood creates the conditions for meaningful change.
My approach is tailored to your individual needs. I will support you in developing greater self-awareness, recognising your strengths and making choices that feel right for you.
Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, but you do not have to face life’s challenges alone. I am here to support you in a way that is respectful, collaborative and centred around what matters most to you.
Practice description
My practice is grounded in Person-Centred Therapy, with a strong focus on the establishing the therapeutic relationship where you will experience empathy, acceptance and authenticity. I will support you to explore your experiences in a way that feels meaningful for you.
I draw on Transactional Analysis (TA) to support understanding of relational patterns and how earlier experiences may continue to influence present-day thoughts, feelings and behaviours. This can help you develop greater awareness and choice.
I work with how emotions are felt and expressed in the body. This can help deepen awareness of emotional responses and better understand what you are experiencing in the present moment.
Together, these approaches support a reflective relational process where you can develop greater self understanding leading to the opportunity to effect change in a way that is authentic to you.
I previously worked as family lawyer before moving into divorce coaching and mediation. In my work as a therapist I draw on these skills particularly in supporting personal change and managing other complex relationships.
I have also worked in bereavement and loss charities, supporting people through the very personal process of grief and working through losses and significant life transitions.
My first session
I understand that choosing a therapist can feel like a significant step and is a very personal choice. To assist, I offer an initial consultation at a reduced fee. This session provides an opportunity for us to meet, for you to start to share your story and for us to explore what has brought you to therapy. You can begin to gain a sense of how I work, helping you decide whether I feel like the right therapist for you.
It is also a space for you to ask any questions about therapy and to consider what you are looking for from the process.
