About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I’m Christine. I work with people aged 18+ who may be thinking that life shouldn’t feel like such a battle. Perhaps you’re overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, irritable or simply feeling really down. Maybe you’re struggling with relationships or loss. I can help to ease the weight of carrying your thoughts and feelings alone.

As we work together, we can look beyond the mask you may find yourself wearing day to day and compassionately explore and question patterns of thinking and coping that are no longer helpful to you. Together we can work towards positive changes that matter to you, helping you feel more confident and less burdened.

Growing up, I was taught the importance of truly listening to others and treating people with compassion. These are values I've carried with me throughout my life. I initially pursued a career in business, working in a number of senior management positions. However, when life threw me some challenging curveballs, I returned to university to train as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

My therapeutic experience includes working within the prison system; working with men who have faced significant trauma and bereavement. As well as working with addiction and difficulties with relationships.

Practice description

I’m an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, which means I’m trained in a number of different approaches, allowing me to tailor how I work to what best suits you. You don’t need to know where to begin or have the right words to explain how you’re feeling. We can work on that together, at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You can share difficult or painful experiences with me without worrying about being judged or overwhelming me. I’ll bring genuine empathy, compassion and gentle challenge to our work together. I am registered with the BACP and work in accordance with their Ethical Framework.

My first session

I offer a free 20-minute introductory conversation, either face to face or on the phone, so we can meet, discuss what you're looking for and see whether working together feels right.

In our first counselling session, we'll talk more about what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to gain from it. I'll also explain the practical arrangements, including confidentiality, boundaries and what you can expect from our work together. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions before we agree how to proceed.
