About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I am Deke. I’m a qualified integrative counsellor and therapist, offering a warm, calm and non-judgemental space where you can feel safe to slow down, reconnect with yourself, and explore whatever you may be carrying, emotionally, mentally, or physically.
I believe that therapy is not about being ‘fixed’, but about developing a deeper understanding of yourself, your experiences, and the patterns that may be shaping your life. I draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and tailor our work to you as an individual.
I have experience working with anxiety, depression, burnout, low self-esteem, relationship and family difficulties, childhood trauma, sexual trauma, bereavement, neurodivergency and the emotional impact of chronic illness. I also support people who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, disconnected from themselves, or uncertain about what comes next.
Our work might involve exploring how past experiences have shaped the way you relate to yourself and others, developing greater awareness of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, or finding ways to feel more grounded and able to manage what you are experiencing in the present.
Sometimes, therapy may simply provide the space to pause and make sense of things that have felt difficult to put into words.
At the heart of my practice is the therapeutic relationship. I believe that feeling genuinely heard, understood and accepted can be a powerful starting point for change and growth.
My role is not to tell you what to do, but to walk alongside you as you explore your experiences, recognise your strengths and develop a greater sense of choice and self-understanding.
Whether you are coming to therapy with a specific concern or simply feel that something needs to change, we can work together at a pace that feels comfortable for you. I hope to offer a space where you can explore your story with curiosity, compassion and without judgement, while reconnecting with your own inner resources and wisdom.
