About me and my therapy practice

Hello and welcome. I am a qualified psychodynamic therapist based in Hastings, offering psychotherapy and counselling to adults in person, online and by telephone.

With over 30 years’ experience working in education, leadership and therapeutic settings, I understand that life can sometimes feel overwhelming. Whether you are facing a particular difficulty or simply have a sense that something isn’t quite right, I offer a calm, confidential and compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings without judgement.

I believe that being listened to with care and curiosity can be the beginning of meaningful change. My role is to think alongside you as we make sense of your experiences, helping you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and your relationships.

Finding the right therapist is an important part of the process. I offer an initial consultation so we can meet, discuss what has brought you to therapy, and consider whether working together feels like the right fit.

Practice description

I offer a thoughtful, reflective space where we can explore whatever has brought you to therapy. There is no expectation to arrive knowing exactly what you want to say. Together, we will work at a pace that feels manageable, allowing thoughts and feelings to emerge naturally over time.

As a psychodynamic therapist, I am interested in understanding not only your current difficulties but also the deeper patterns and experiences that may be shaping them. Our work may help you recognise recurring ways of relating, understand difficult emotions and develop greater self-awareness, creating the possibility for lasting change.

Every therapeutic relationship is unique. Some people come with a specific issue they want to address, while others are seeking a deeper understanding of themselves or a space to reflect during a challenging period of life. I offer both short-term counselling and open-ended psychotherapy, depending on your needs.

My role is to listen carefully, think alongside you and provide a safe, confidential environment where you feel accepted, supported and gently challenged when appropriate.

My first session

The first session is an opportunity for us to meet and begin to explore what has brought you to therapy. We’ll talk about your current concerns, any relevant background, and what you hope to gain from our work together. It is also a chance for you to ask any questions about the therapy process and decide whether I feel like the right therapist for you. There is no obligation to continue after our first meeting. If we decide to work together, we will agree a regular weekly session time and discuss whether short-term counselling or open-ended psychotherapy would be the most appropriate approach.
