About me and my therapy practice
Life can change in ways we never expected. You may be living with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem, or the impact of a life-changing diagnosis such as cancer. Or perhaps you appear to be coping on the outside while feeling overwhelmed, anxious or burnt out. Your mind may never seem to switch off, or you may feel misunderstood.
I offer face-to-face, online and telephone counselling for adults in English and Russian.
I work in a person-centred experiential way, believing you are the expert in your own life. Rather than offering advice or trying to fix you, I provide a safe, accepting therapeutic relationship where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.
A significant part of my work has been supporting people living with cancer and other life-changing diagnoses, as well as those supporting someone they love through illness, anticipatory grief and bereavement. These experiences can feel overwhelming, isolating and deeply uncertain. I offer a warm, compassionate space where you don't have to carry them alone.
I continue to witness the remarkable capacity people have for healing and growth when they feel truly heard, understood and accepted. This continues to inspire and shape the way I work.
I also support clients experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, identity questions and life transitions.
If spirituality, faith or questions of meaning are important to you, there is space for these within our work. I won't introduce these topics unless they are meaningful to you.
I offer a calm, flexible and supportive space where you are free to be yourself. Together, we'll find an approach that supports you best. Therapy can be a collaborative process where you pause, reflect and reconnect with yourself.
If you're curious about working together, I offer a free 15-minute introductory call to see whether we're the right fit.
Practice description
Therapy by Choice is my private counselling practice for adults (18+). I offer face-to-face counselling in Eastbourne town centre, as well as online and telephone sessions across the UK.
Whether we meet in person or remotely, creating a safe, confidential and supportive space is at the heart of my practice. For online and telephone sessions, I work from a private, secure environment and ask that you do the same wherever possible.
I work in a person-centred experiential way, which means our focus is on your lived experience rather than offering advice or interpreting your experiences. You don't need to prepare beforehand or worry about finding the "right" words. We will work at a pace that feels comfortable, with you deciding what feels most important to bring to each session.
Alongside talking, we may gently explore how your experiences affect you emotionally and physically, using creative approaches if they feel helpful for you. This can deepen self-awareness, help identify patterns and support meaningful change in a way that feels manageable.
I welcome flexibility in how we work together and, where appropriate, can adapt sessions to meet your individual needs.
Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly at an agreed time. If you're considering counselling, I offer a free 15-minute introductory call, giving you the opportunity to ask questions and decide whether working together feels right for you.
My first session
I offer a free 15-minute introductory call so we can see whether working together feels like a good fit. This isn't a therapy session, but an opportunity for you to ask questions about counselling, how I work, confidentiality, or anything else you'd like to know. It's also a chance for us both to decide whether we'd like to work together.
If we decide to go ahead, I'll send you a copy of my therapy agreement to read in your own time before our first session.
During our first session, we'll briefly go through the therapy agreement and answer any questions you may have. We'll also talk about anything that might help you feel comfortable in our work together, including any reasonable adjustments or previous experiences of therapy that you'd like me to be aware of.
The rest of the session is yours. There is no expectation to tell your whole story or know exactly what to say. We will begin wherever feels right for you, moving at a pace that feels safe and manageable. Together, we'll start to explore what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to gain from our work together.
