About me and my therapy practice
I believe in the power for change and growth that comes from working with Non-judgemental empathic understanding, warmth and kindness within a boundaried ethical framework that creates a safe Space to be Heard. I work with clients online and face to face at my counselling room in Framlingham. As an integrative counsellor/psychotherapist I blend from Person-Centred, Psychodynamic, Transactional Analysis, Mindfulness and Gestalt theoretical models. I believe that people have the innate capacity to change and grow and to live life authentically. Sometimes it can be helpful to have a counsellor alongside. I work with clients to explore early life attachment styles and patterns of relating. Together we consider the impact of loss and grief exploring those processes of loss and how they inform our sense of self and the way we embrace the present and anticipate the future. I work with clients drawing on mindfulness to conceptualise anxiety and depression as fear and sadness and to find ways to live presently with authenticity. This often means exploring my client's sense of self and self worth: "Who am I?" and "Where does my identity and self worth come from?" "What do I want from my life?" and "How do I achieve a life with meaning and purpose that is true to myself?"
Practice description
My practice is based in Framlingham in Suffolk where I have a counselling room for in person face-to-face sessions. I also offer online counselling sessions for clients living in East Anglia. I work with adults and have particular experience in supporting people living with chronic health conditions. I also have experience working with people struggling with loss, relationships and low self esteem. I am a Registered Member of the BACP; I hold a BSc. In Psychology with Counselling and I am a Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society. I also work in research into the experiences of people living with Autoimmune Disease and for a national charity that provides emotional and psychological support for people with Autoimmune conditions. My background in Reablement has given me a first hand insight into the challenges of living with and supporting loved ones living with dementia. I have experience counselling adolescents and young adults, facilitating mental health workshops and training student counsellors to CPCAB Level 2.
