About me and my therapy practice

You don't need to have a label for what is going on for you, or even be sure exactly what it is you want to change. Many people come to therapy simply knowing that something doesn't feel right, or that they would like life to feel different.

You may be feeling anxious, overwhelmed or disconnected, struggling with relationships or loss, navigating a change in your life or identity, or carrying the weight of caring for others. Therapy offers a space to pause, reflect and begin making sense of your experiences.

I work relationally and integratively, which means that the relationship we build together is at the heart of my work. I don't believe that one approach fits everyone. Instead, I draw on different therapeutic perspectives according to you, your experiences and what emerges through our work together.

I have a particular interest in caring, identity and neurodivergence, including supporting those who spend much of their lives caring for or advocating for others. I know that this can be heavy and can shape our sense of ourselves. Sometimes we can feel unseen or unheard when we are focused on someone else even if we love them. I have undertaken additional professional development in neurodivergence and strive to offer a thoughtful, affirming approach that recognises each person's unique experiences and strengths.

My therapeutic work has been shaped by many years of listening to people, studying human experience and supporting others through times of difficulty and change. Alongside my private practice, I have experience working with adults in educational and online counselling settings and have been a listening volunteer with Samaritans for over seven years.

Practice description

I offer individual counselling and psychotherapy for adults, both online and in person in Banbury, Oxfordshire.

I offer a free 15-minute initial consultation, either online or by telephone. This gives us an opportunity to talk briefly about what has brought you to therapy, what you might be hoping for, and whether working together feels right for you. There is no obligation to continue afterwards.

If we decide to work together, sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly at a regular time, creating a consistent and supportive space for our work together.

I offer open-ended therapy rather than working to a fixed number of sessions. This means that we can work at a pace that feels appropriate for you, while regularly reviewing how the therapy is going and whether it continues to meet your needs.

Online sessions take place via Google Meet. In-person sessions take place in a private therapy room in Banbury.

I work within the BACP Ethical Framework and UKCP ethical standards and attend regular clinical supervision as part of my professional practice.

My first session

Our first session is an opportunity for us to begin getting to know one another and to explore what has brought you to therapy. There is no expectation that you need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about or what you would like to change.

We can think together about what you are hoping for from therapy, as well as anything you need to know about how I work. Most importantly, the first session gives you an opportunity to experience what it is like to work with me and to consider whether I feel like the right therapist for you.

The first session lasts 50 minutes and is charged at my usual session fee.
