About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced psychodynamic psychotherapist working in the NHS and private practice in east London.
I work in-person and online with adults experiencing a range of emotional and psychological difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, feeling stuck, low self-esteem, life transitions and the impact of past experiences.
At my consulting room in Hackney, I offer a confidential, compassionate and non-judgemental space in which difficulties can be explored at a pace that feels appropriate for each individual.
In a psychodynamic approach, the therapy I offer works towards lasting change, fresh perspectives on patterns of life and relationships, as well as real relief from mental pain and anxiety.
I trained in Intercultural Psychodynamic Psychotherapy at the Tavistock, and have worked in a variety of settings, including Headstrong Hackney and the Adult Psychotherapy Department at St Pancras NHS Hospital.
I am a full member of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC), the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists (TSP) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).
Practice description
You may be seeking therapy to help with a particular difficulty or a recent event such as a bereavement or relationship breakdown.
You may be coming to therapy for the first time, or have experience of therapy and would like to explore your difficulties in more depth. You may be struggling in life, unsure of what you need, and want to talk about what might be helpful.
My approach is grounded in psychodynamic work, and focuses on developing a deeper understanding of yourself, and the underlying factors contributing to current difficulties. This may include exploring patterns in relationships, emotional responses, internal conflicts and experiences from earlier life that can continue to influence how we think, feel and relate to ourselves and others.
As a therapist, I have worked with adults from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of difficulties. I am interested in the unique meaning of each person’s strengths and difficulties, and approach our work together with compassion, respect and curiosity.
My practice is conveniently located in the heart of Hackney, close to both Hackney Downs and Hackney Central Overground stations.
The first step is to get in touch.
My first session
Before the first session, I offer a free 15-minute phone call to talk about what you need and to discuss some practical details.
After this, if you wish to proceed, we can arrange an in-person consultation. I usually offer an initial consultation period of 2-4 sessions.
These sessions give us a chance to meet, to talk about what has brought you to therapy, to answer any questions, and discuss arrangements for ongoing therapy. All sessions are 50 minutes long.
