About me and my therapy practice
I use a combination of Person centred therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy, I also have qualifications and experience in mindset coaching.
I have three main areas that I work with:
Neurodiversity (Autism and ADHD)
Grief, bereavement and life transitions.
Infertility and childlessness.
I specialise in working with neurodivergent adults and young people, including autistic, ADHD and ODD. Through my professional experience I understand that neurodivergent people have spent a lifetime feeling different, misunderstood or are exhausted from masking. Therapy should never ask you to become someone else. Before qualifying as a counsellor I spent many years working in education, especially with those with SEND, I still continue to work with neurodivergent people as my main job. I aim to understand how your mind works, recognise your strengths, help develop strategies that work for you but the main focus would be working on you accepting who you are and being comfortable with that.
Grief and loss. Loss affects every part of our lives whether through bereavement, end of relationships, redundancy, infertility, loss of health, identity or simply down to a life that never unfolded as you expected it. There is no right way to grieve. No timetable for healing. I have been a counsellor in a bereavement charity, training in grief and loss along with infertility and childlessness. My work would consist of helping you to understand the emotions that you feel, which could range from extreme sadness, anxiety, self doubt, guilt, anger, denial and feeling stuck to name a few. I could work with you to make sense of your experiences, it can be lonely in grief as people often do not understand, I would work with you to accept that what you feel is allowed, help you find strategies to carry the grief and help you move towards the life you want to live yet still understand that you do not need to let go of your past but can still build a life around it.
