About me and my therapy practice
Kelly Williams
Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor
(Dip. Psych, Dip. Couns, Registered Member MBACP)
A calm, compassionate and supportive space to explore what matters to you
Hello and a warm welcome
There may be times in life when things feel heavy, confusing, or simply too much to hold alone. Counselling offers a quiet, steady space to pause, reflect, and reconnect with yourself. I offer a safe, grounded environment where you can bring what feels important, and explore your experiences at your own pace, with warmth, clarity, and compassion. My aim is to support you in finding firmer ground and a deeper sense of connection within yourself, without any pressure to be anything other than who you are in this moment.
About me and how I work
I am an Integrative Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and a Registered Member of the BACP. My counselling approach is integrative, bringing together different therapeutic perspectives in a way that feels personal and meaningful to you. My work is grounded in person-centred values, attachment-based understanding, mind-body connection - tuning into what is happening within your body, and gentle reflective cognitive practices. This supports us in exploring both your emotional world and the patterns that may have developed over time.
I believe that healing happens in relationship. When we feel safe, understood, and supported, it becomes possible to explore the past and how it continues to shape our lives today. I offer a calm, grounded space where you can reconnect with yourself, make sense of what feels difficult, and move towards greater ease and self‑understanding.
Early experiences can leave an imprint that shapes how we feel and relate in the present. Counselling offers a steady space to gently reconsider these patterns and move towards greater clarity, steadiness, and connection.
Practice description
My counselling practice is grounded in warmth, compassion, and respect. I believe in creating a space where you can move at your own pace, feel heard, and explore your experiences without judgement. I value authenticity, emotional safety, and the importance of a supportive therapeutic relationship. These values guide the way I listen, respond, and shape our work together.
I work with adults aged 18 and over who are experiencing a wide range of emotional, relational, and life challenges.
I offer support with emotional, relational, and life challenges such as relationship difficulties, family dynamics, trauma, abuse, stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement, loneliness, self-esteem concerns, unhelpful habits or patterns, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), and Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD). I also work with clients navigating experiences related to identity, sexuality, health, or relationships.
Depending on what feels supportive for you, we may explore relational patterns, body-based awareness by noticing what is happening in your body, grounding practices, and reflective cognitive practices – always in a way that feels steady, safe, and manageable.
Alongside my work in private practice, I also offer counselling within a sexual violence and domestic violence organisation, supporting adults through experiences that can feel deeply challenging. I volunteer as a counsellor providing bereavement support in a hospice, supporting people as they navigate loss and change. These roles have shaped my understanding of trauma, resilience, and the importance of a steady, compassionate therapeutic relationship.
My practice is supported by regular clinical supervision, ongoing training, and a commitment to reflective practice. I have worked with adults from diverse backgrounds, identities, and life experiences, and I am committed to offering counselling that is inclusive, respectful, and responsive to each person’s unique needs.
My first session
What to expect in the first session
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We will explore what brings you to counselling, what feels important for you right now, and what you hope for from our work together. There is no pressure to share anything before you feel ready. You are welcome to take things at a pace that feels comfortable.
How sessions work
Sessions last 60 minutes and can take place either in-person or online via Zoom. In-person sessions are held in a quiet, comfortable, purpose-built counselling room in Barrow upon Humber, North Lincolnshire, with free parking outside.
Online sessions are available for clients across the UK.
My fee is £50 per session.
I offer both short-term counselling (approximately 6-8 sessions) and longer-term counselling, depending on what feels right for you. Whilst weekly sessions can offer you a sense of consistency and help the work feel more connected from week to week, I also offer flexible options such as fortnightly sessions. Pre-agreed arrangements can be made to fit around your personal needs and circumstances. We can talk together about what feels manageable and supportive for you.
If you are considering counselling, you are welcome to get in touch. Reaching out can feel like an important step, and you are invited to do so whenever it feels helpful. We can shape the counselling together in a way that feels safe and manageable, with space for you to choose what feels right for you.
Whether you are looking for support with something specific or simply wanting space to explore what is happening in your life, I offer a calm, steady place to begin. You are welcome to contact me if you would like to talk things through, ask any questions, or arrange an appointment.
With kindness,
Kelly
