About me and my therapy practice

Hello, I'm Brett.

I'm a BACP registered integrative counsellor, offering 50-minute counselling sessions in Bexley and online throughout the UK.

Sometimes the ways we've learned to cope stop working as well as they once did. You might be struggling with anxiety, relationships, life changes or low mood, or simply have a sense that things aren't quite working as they used to.

My approach is warm, thoughtful and relational, with space to explore what's happening without judgement. You don't need to arrive with all the answers or know exactly what you want from counselling. We can start with whatever has brought you here and explore it together.

Who I work with

I work with adults experiencing challenges including anxiety, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, grief and loss, OCD, trauma and menopause and peri-menopause.

I also support people through difficult life changes and experiences that can be hard to make sense of alone.

You don't need to have a clear idea of what you want from counselling. If something isn't working for you, or you want things to feel different, that can be enough to begin exploring what is going on.

Questions of identity, belonging or feeling different from those around you can also be important parts of therapy. Difficult or complicated experiences of faith and community can be explored without judgement.

Practice description

I believe counselling works best as a collaborative process. We can take time to understand what is happening for you, what you would like to be different and what might help.

I want you to feel heard and understood, while also having space to look at things from a different perspective. I'll listen carefully, ask questions, offer observations and, where it feels useful, gently challenge you.

I'm an integrative counsellor, drawing on person-centred, psychodynamic, cognitive and existential approaches. Rather than expecting you to fit a particular model, I'll adapt the way we work to you and what you need.

I'm also attentive to what happens between us in the here and now. The way we relate to one another can sometimes offer useful clues about patterns that may also be playing out elsewhere in your life.

Our past experiences and relationships can influence how we see ourselves, relate to others and cope when life becomes difficult. Exploring these influences can help you develop a clearer understanding of yourself and greater choice in how you respond.
