About me and my therapy practice
Do you feel anxious even when you know you're safe? Perhaps your mind won't switch off, you're constantly overthinking, or you feel on edge, overwhelmed or numb. You don't have to keep carrying this on your own.
I'm Danielle, an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist offering a warm, non-judgemental space for adults and young people aged 16 and over. Clients often describe me as gentle, steady and easy to talk to. I have over 20 years' experience working in mental health settings across Greater Manchester.
I specialise in anxiety and overthinking, and I also support people affected by trauma, difficult life experiences, bereavement, low mood and low self-esteem.
My work is grounded in a person-centred approach. I also draw on CBT and Transactional Analysis when they're helpful. I'm trauma-informed, and I often bring in a polyvagal-informed understanding of how the nervous system responds to stress, threat and safety. That can help make sense of why your body reacts before you've had time to think. It's one way of understanding these responses, and you're never judged for how you feel.
You are not broken. Sometimes your mind and body are responding in ways they've learned to protect you. Together we can explore what they may be communicating, at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
Practice description
I see clients in a calm, private counselling room in North Manchester, with comfortable seating and soft natural light. I also offer online sessions by secure video call to clients anywhere in the UK.
My first session
We start with a free 20-minute introductory call. You can tell me a little about what's been happening, ask any questions, and decide whether you'd feel comfortable working with me. There's no pressure or obligation to continue. You don't need to explain everything in your first message, as a few lines is enough.
In our first session we'll get to know each other, talk about what has brought you to counselling, and agree how we might work together. For anyone under 18, I ask for consent from a parent or guardian before we begin.
