About me and my therapy practice

I know that reaching out for therapy can feel like a big step. You may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, lost, or simply aware that something in your life isn't quite where you'd like it to be. Whatever has brought you here, I offer a welcoming, confidential, and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly and explore what's going on for you. I am an integrative psychotherapist, which means I draw on different therapeutic approaches to suit the individual sitting in front of me. I believe there is no "one size fits all" approach to therapy. Instead, I work collaboratively with clients, taking time to understand their unique experiences, relationships, and challenges. My aim is to build a genuine therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, accepted, and supported. Often, having the space to speak freely with someone who is fully present can be the beginning of meaningful change.

Practice description

Therapy is most effective when there is a shared understanding of the purpose and direction of our work. While every client's needs and circumstances are unique, I generally work within a framework of up to 30 sessions. This structure provides space to develop a therapeutic relationship, explore difficulties in depth, and work towards meaningful and lasting change, while also ensuring that therapy remains focused and purposeful. After approximately 15 sessions, we will undertake a formal review of our work together. This review is an opportunity to:

Reflect on your experience of therapy so far.

Consider any changes, insights or progress that have emerged.

Review the goals we identified at the start of our work.

Discuss any new themes or challenges that may have arisen.

Consider what would be most beneficial for the remainder of our work together.

The purpose of the review is not to measure success or failure, but to ensure that therapy continues to meet your needs and remains a collaborative process. Towards the end of our agreed period of work, we will undertake a further review to reflect on the overall therapeutic journey, consider the progress made, and discuss whether additional sessions would be helpful or whether it feels appropriate to bring therapy to a close. Where clinically appropriate, shorter-term or longer-term work may be agreed. Any changes to the planned number of sessions will be discussed together and reviewed regularly.

My first session

Taking the first step towards therapy can feel daunting, which is why I offer a free online consultation before we begin working together. This gives us the chance to get to know one another and talk about what has brought you to therapy. During this conversation, I'll ask a number of questions to help me understand your experiences, current challenges, and what you're hoping to achieve. It's also an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have and get a feel for how I work. Choosing a therapist is a personal decision, and I believe it's important that you feel comfortable, heard, and able to decide whether I'm the right person to support you on your journey.
