About me and my therapy practice
My name is Gemma and I am a qualified, fully insured and DBS checked Therapeutic Counsellor, working with individual adults within the UK. My background is working in Holistic Therapies and I have been running my own holistic business since 2016.
Although I practise my counselling and holistic work separately, my knowledge and experience in Reiki, Meditation and Mindfulness can often inform my work. I have experience supporting families and individuals in homeless hostels and I have worked as a mental health first aider. I am extremely passionate about improving mental health and wellbeing.
I completely understand how difficult it can be reaching out to a counsellor and the added pressure of trying to choose the right one. To help you get a feel for who I am, some of the things my customers say about me are; She's kind, caring, welcoming, understanding, makes you feel at ease, professional and really takes time to listen.
I aim to provide you, the client, with a safe and confidential space to talk about any personal issues you are experiencing. As a therapeutic counsellor, I integrate various theories and ideas to help us understand your individual experiences. I am person-centred, which means I pride myself in providing you with a warm, friendly, safe and non-judgemental space to share and explore your feelings. I believe building a therapeutic relationship is key to our work together. If it feels appropriate, I may call on psychodynamic theories, which means we can explore how your past experiences, may have contributed to your current feelings and behaviour. Ultimately, I aim to listen and support you through difficult times. I understand counselling can be uncomfortable at times and I intend not to make judgements, tell you what to do or how you should be feeling.
Practice description
I work in-person from premises in the centre of Trowbridge.
In addition to my therapeutic counselling qualification, I have completed online training and therefore able to offer online sessions as required. These are carried out over teams and can often be useful if you are living a very busy life or find it difficult to leave your home.
My first session
On making contact with me, I will offer you a free 20-minute telephone or teams consultation which will give us a chance to discuss what has brought you to counselling. We can explore your expectations and I will aim to answer any questions you may have.
This will give us a chance to decide if we feel comfortable working together. If so, I will send you my working agreement and if you are happy to proceed, I ask you to sign and return it to me prior to booking our initial counselling session. If you need any help with the document, I am happy to support you the best I can.
I suggest a minimum of 6-8 sessions, and offer long term counselling also.
Sessions are £50 for 50 minutes, weekly or fortnightly.
