Availability

I have availability for new clients. My working days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8am to 5pm, with flexible evening availability up to 9pm on Mondays and Tuesdays.

I can offer fixed day and time if needed but also offer flexibility. This may mean different days and times, or flexible timing between sessions. Some clients choose to have counselling weekly or fortnightly, others may need something a little more variable to fit with their life and needs.

I'm keen to ensure counselling is flexible, adaptable and accessible - that way we can focus on the work you need.

About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I’m Leah. I’m an integrative counsellor and coach and I work with adults who are trying to make sense of themselves, their relationships, their work or their lives.

A lot of the people I work with are capable, thoughtful and outwardly functioning well, while privately feeling exhausted, overwhelmed or stuck. You may have spent years being told by others that you are strong, capable or resilient, whilst feeling very different on the inside. Counselling can help provide a safe, confidential space to drop the mask, work through what's really going on and create meaningful change moving forward.

I work in a warm, collaborative and relational way. I believe the relationship between us is central to therapy: you need to feel able to be honest, bring your whole self into the room and explore difficult things without being judged or told who you should be.

You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what's wrong or have a neat plan for what you want from therapy. We can start wherever you are, make sense of what is happening, and work out together what might help.

As an integrative counsellor, I draw on different therapeutic approaches depending on you and what you need, with person-centred and relational work at the heart of my practice. We might explore current experiences, relationships and patterns, look at how past experiences have shaped you, or think together about what you want to do differently.

In addition to my work as a counsellor, I have worked as an executive coach for the past decade, with specialisms in burnout, career development, neurodivergence and unseen and hidden disability. I'm neuroaffirming, LGBTQIA+ affirming and use a strengths-based approach to work with you, where you are, with what you've got available to help you.

Practice description

I offer online counselling for adults, with 50-minute sessions that can be booked on a fixed schedule or flexibly according to your needs.

I have a particular interest in ADHD, autism and neurodivergence, including people who are questioning whether they may be neurodivergent or trying to understand themselves differently following a diagnosis or realisation. I also have experience working with burnout, stress, anxiety, self-esteem, as well as major life-changes including injury, disability, life limiting illness, bereavement and trauma.

I work in a friendly, constructive way including neuroaffirming and LGBTQIA+ affirming ways, creating a space where you can be yourself without having to perform, mask or have everything neatly explained.

Our work is collaborative and we work at your pace. You can bring whatever feels important that day. There is room for difficult conversations, uncertainty, tears, humour and curiosity. You don't have to have the answers before you arrive.

My background is a little different. Before becoming a counsellor I was a lawyer working with bereaved clients and people with life-changing brain injuries. I then became a coach, spending ten years working with professionals around ADHD and autism, executive functioning, career and sustainable performance. During my counselling training I worked within a palliative care hospice with bereaved people, carers and patients with life-limiting illness. I understand the particular pressures that can come with being the person everyone relies on, while privately struggling to keep everything together.

Counselling with me isn't about giving you a list of things you “should” be doing. It is a space to stop, think and explore what is actually going on. Sometimes we might focus on something happening right now; sometimes we'll look at patterns that have developed over time and once made sense, but may no longer be serving you.

My first session

Finding a counsellor can feel surprisingly daunting. You're considering talking to a complete stranger about things that may be deeply personal, so I don't expect the first session to feel completely natural straight away!

Initially please message or email me to discuss your needs. I offer a half-price first session. This is a 50 minute video call, which gives us the space to introduce ourselves, talk about what has brought you to counselling, and for you to ask questions about me or how I work. Most importantly, it gives you a chance to get a feel for whether I might be the right counsellor for you. There is no pressure to continue after that first session, and if I'm not the right fit for any reason I'm happy to help signpost and refer you on to other services and counsellors.

I'll also explain practical matters such as confidentiality and how we'll work together, and there will be space for you to ask anything you need to feel comfortable about starting therapy.

If you decide to work with me, ongoing sessions are ordinarily 50 minutes long and charged at my full rate. If you need any flexibility around this, we can discuss this during the initial session.
