About me and my therapy practice
Hi there, and welcome to my page. I’m Amy, a MBACP Person-Centred Therapist with a further Master’s degree in Clinical Skills in Integrative Psychotherapy.
Taking that first step takes courage, and my aim is to make the process feel as comfortable and safe as possible. I believe I am approachable and welcome you reaching out if you have any questions.
As a Person-Centred Therapist, I offer a warm, safe and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about whatever is troubling you. I believe that you have the skills and resources within you to work through the difficulties you’re experiencing. My role is to work alongside you, helping you to reconnect with those strengths and develop a deeper understanding of yourself. As I have also trained in Integrative psychotherapies it might be that we use some tools/ techniques from other modalities if they feel appropriate and you are in agreement.
My hope is that therapy with me will provide you with a space to feel heard, understood and validated, while helping you move towards living a life that feels more fulfilling and authentic to you.
MY EXPERIENCE
I have over 10 years experience working within the mental health sector, offering different forms of 1:1 support. I have 6 years experience working with young people (aged 11-26) as well as working with adults struggling with anything from anxiety and identity issues to relationship difficulties and trauma/ complex mental health needs.
I feel really passionate about supporting people with their mental health to help understand themselves and how they have become to be the person they are now.
Practice description
Starting therapy can feel nerve wracking. I will take the time to get to know you, try to explain things clearly and make sure you feel at ease. We will work at your pace, and there is not expectation for us to talk about something before you feel ready. Therapy is a collaborative process, and what we focus on will be guided by what feels important and meaningful to you.I believe that everyone’s distress is unique and shaped by their individual experiences and circumstances. During our sessions we will explore how your relationships and experiences from early childhood to adulthood influence the way you understand yourself, relate to others and manage difficult emotions today.
Whether you are looking for a way to manage or work through difficult and uncomfortable feelings, develop your self-confidence or explore how your relationships and experiences have led you to be the person you are today, I would love to help.
My first session
When choosing to work with me, our relationship is so important. Therefore, I offer a free 20 minute phone call to discuss therapy and any questions you may have. This phone call gives you the opportunity to see what talking to me feels like and if I would be the right fit for you.
if at that point it feels like a good fit for you I will ask you to complete a client information form just to get your contact details and reason for wanting support and then once this is received we can arrange our first session together. Support needs to go at a pace that feels good for you so there will be no pressure to talk about something if you don't feel ready to.
