About me and my therapy practice

Choosing a counsellor can feel like an endless scroll of profiles, especially when you're not entirely sure what you're looking for.

I'm an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist offering counselling in Keighley and online across the UK. My approach is relaxed, genuine and conversational. I believe there's room for humour alongside the difficult conversations, while always taking what matters to you seriously.

You might be feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck in familiar patterns or struggling with relationships, confidence or identity. Perhaps alcohol or drugs have become a way of coping, and you're beginning to question the role they're playing. Whatever brings you here, you don't need to have everything figured out.

I won't just sit silently analysing you. I'm an active, engaged counsellor who listens, asks questions, shares observations and gently challenges things when helpful. We can explore your experiences, emotions, relationships and patterns together, at a pace that feels right for you.

I work with people aged 16 and over, supporting difficulties including anxiety, low mood, self-esteem, grief, relationships and life changes. I have a particular interest in supporting young people and young adults with alcohol or drug use, particularly when substances have become a way of managing difficult feelings.

I value genuine connection and want counselling to feel like somewhere you can be yourself, without judgement or pressure to say the right thing.

I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation so you can ask questions, get a feel for how I work and decide whether we'd be a good fit. There's no obligation to continue.

Practice description

I'm an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist offering counselling in Skipton, Keighley and online across the UK for people aged 16 and over.

My approach is relaxed, genuine and conversational. I believe counselling can involve difficult and emotional conversations without needing to feel overly formal. There's room for warmth, curiosity and humour where it feels natural, while always taking your experiences seriously.

I won't simply sit silently and analyse you. I take an active, collaborative approach, listening carefully, asking questions, sharing observations and gently challenging patterns when it feels helpful. We work together to explore what's happening in your life and what you might want to understand or change.

As an integrative counsellor, I adapt my approach to your individual needs rather than following a fixed method. Sessions might involve exploring your emotions, relationships, past experiences, coping strategies or patterns of behaviour. You don't need to arrive knowing exactly what you want to talk about.

I support people experiencing anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, grief, identity struggles, life transitions and feelings of being stuck or overwhelmed.

I also have a particular interest in working with young people and young adults experiencing difficulties with alcohol or drug use, including when substances have become a way of coping with difficult feelings or experiences. My approach is non-judgemental and focused on understanding rather than lecturing.

Sessions last 50 minutes and cost £55.

I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation so you can ask questions, find out more about how I work and see whether counselling with me feels right for you, without any obligation to continue.

My first session

**Your first session**

Starting counselling can feel a little daunting, especially if you're not sure what to expect.

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin exploring what has brought you to counselling. There's no expectation to share everything straight away, and you don't need to arrive with a clear idea of what you want to say.

We'll briefly go through our counselling agreement, including confidentiality and how we'll work together. You'll have the opportunity to ask any questions, and we can talk about what you're hoping to get from counselling, even if you're not entirely sure yet.

My approach is relaxed and conversational, so the first session isn't about working through a long list of questions or putting you on the spot. We'll take things at a pace that feels comfortable, while making sure we cover anything important.

The first session lasts 50 minutes and costs £55, the same as subsequent sessions.

If you'd prefer to have a quick chat before booking, I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation. This gives you a chance to ask questions, get a feel for how I work and decide whether you'd like to arrange a session.

About me and my therapy practice

Starting therapy can feel daunting. You might have been thinking about it for a while, or perhaps something has happened that has left you feeling overwhelmed, stuck or unsure where to turn. Whatever has brought you here, you don't need to have everything worked out before we meet.

I see therapy as a space to slow things down and make sense of what's been happening beneath the surface. Together we'll explore your thoughts, emotions and experiences with curiosity rather than judgement, helping you understand not only what you're feeling, but why. Often, when we begin to understand ourselves differently, change starts to feel more possible.

As an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, I don't believe one approach suits everyone. Some people find it helpful to talk things through, while others prefer a more collaborative way of working, using practical ideas and different therapeutic approaches to understand recurring patterns and develop new ways of coping. We'll find a way of working that feels right for you.

I work with adults and young people aged 16+, supporting people experiencing anxiety, low mood, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, life changes and substance misuse. Alongside my private practice, I have experience working with young people in specialist education and with individuals affected by addiction, giving me an understanding of the different challenges people can face at different stages of life.

Above all, I believe therapy is about feeling heard, understood and accepted. My hope is that you leave each session with a greater understanding of yourself and the confidence to make choices that feel right for you.

Practice description

Looking for the right therapist can feel overwhelming, especially when every profile seems to say something similar. I believe one of the most important parts of therapy is finding someone you feel comfortable with.

When we work together, you'll find a space where you can speak openly without feeling judged or pressured. Whether you're coming with a specific issue or simply a sense that life doesn't feel quite right, we can take the time to explore what's been happening and what you need from therapy.

I work with adults and young people aged 16+ in person from Skipton and online across the UK. My experience includes supporting people with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties, life transitions and substance misuse. I have also worked extensively with young people in specialist education, supporting a wide range of social, emotional and mental health needs.

I know that asking for help isn't always easy, and I don't expect you to have the right words or know where to begin. Therapy isn't about being analysed or told what to do. It's about having the time and space to understand yourself more fully, recognise patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and discover new ways of responding to life's challenges.

Above all, I aim to build a genuine therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, respected and able to be yourself. I believe meaningful change comes through understanding, trust and working together at a pace that feels right for you.

My first session

Before arranging a first appointment, I offer a free 15-minute telephone consultation. This gives us the opportunity to briefly discuss what has brought you to therapy, answer any questions you may have, and decide whether we feel we are a good fit to work together.

Before your first session, I'll send you a therapy agreement to read and sign. This outlines important information about confidentiality, fees, cancellations and how we'll work together, so you know what to expect from the outset.

Your first therapy session lasts 50 minutes and is charged at my standard fee. There is no formal assessment, and I don't expect you to tell me everything about yourself straight away. Instead, the first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another, explore what has brought you to therapy, and discuss what you hope to gain from our work together.

I'll also explain how I work, answer any questions you may have, and ensure you feel comfortable with the process. You are welcome to go at your own pace—there is no pressure to talk about anything before you feel ready.
