About me and my therapy practice
Whether we work together online or in person, I believe therapy is at its best when it is shaped around you, rather than forcing you into a pre-set model. My approach is integrative and pluralistic, which means we work together to figure out what actually helps you make sense of what you are carrying.
For some people, therapy needs to be a quiet, reflective space to slow down, explore identity, and process grief, loss, or past relational patterns that keep showing up in the present. For others, it needs to be more structured and grounded—focusing on practical strategies to manage panic, unhook from relentless self-criticism, or disrupt cycles of emotional burnout and addictive coping behaviours.
For example, we could bring together person-centred compassion, psychodynamic depth, and practical CBT grounding techniques to look under the surface at why certain patterns keep repeating, or focus on immediate, down-to-earth tools to help you navigate day-to-day overwhelm. It all depends on your needs and wants.
Whether we work together short-term or open-ended, my role is to provide a steady, grounded, and non-judgemental partnership where you can speak honestly, feel understood, and build a way forward that feels genuine to you.
Practice description
I run Quiet Light Counselling, an independent private practice based in Finnieston, Glasgow (G3). My walk-and-talk practice is in the heart of the West End, offering a quiet, serene and open space where you can step away from the noise and pressure of daily life. Each session is shaped by what you want to achieve, and all our therapeutic interactions are grounded in the utmost respect, with no blame or judgement.
A significant part of my practice involves working with adults, students, creatives, and working professionals. Many of the people who come to see me look like they are managing fine on the outside, but are privately struggling with intense perfectionism, imposter syndrome, relational issues, financial stress, creative block, workplace or academic burnout, or difficult life transitions.
My practice is fully inclusive, neurodiversity-affirming, and welcoming to people from all backgrounds, including LGBTQIA+ individuals and those dealing with socio-economic stress or systemic barriers.
Beyond emotional support, safety and governance are central to how I run my practice. I maintain strict confidentiality, ethical boundaries, and data protection standards. Whether you are stepping into therapy for the first time or returning after a break, you can expect a productive, empathetic space that feels calm, respectful, and down-to-earth.
My first session
Taking the step to reach out for therapy can often feel like the hardest part. Because of that, I keep our first contact as straightforward, low-pressure, and transparent as possible.
Before booking an initial full session, I offer a brief, informal telephone consultation free of charge. This gives us a chance to discuss what brings you to counselling, answer any practical questions you might have about fees, scheduling, or location, and help you decide whether I feel like the right counsellor for you.
When we meet for our first full 50-minute session - whether it's online or in-person - our focus is on building a clear, shared picture of where you are and where you want to be in life. We will talk through your current concerns, what you hope to get out of therapy, and any relevant background history. We will then make a rough blueprint for how the next few sessions will progress.
There is no pressure to share more than you feel ready to in that first session. It is simply a structured, gentle starting point where we agree on how we'll work together and decide on a pace that feels right for you.
