About me and my therapy practice

You may be feeling anxious, low, overwhelmed or stuck, or perhaps you are unsure why the same patterns seem to keep repeating in your relationships or in the way you feel about yourself. You do not need to have everything worked out before coming to counselling.

I am a qualified psychodynamic counsellor and a Registered Member of the BACP (MBACP). I work with adults and offer a calm, thoughtful and confidential space where you can talk openly and at your own pace.

My approach is psychodynamic. This means we can think together about what is happening in your life now while also being curious about how earlier experiences and relationships may still influence the way you feel, respond to others and see yourself. This does not mean focusing only on the past; it is about noticing links and patterns that may help you understand yourself more deeply.

I do not see counselling as advice-giving or quick fixing. My role is to listen carefully, think with you and help you explore what may be happening beneath the surface.

I work with difficulties including anxiety, low mood, grief and loss, relationship problems, self-esteem, work stress, family difficulties and feeling overwhelmed or stuck.

I also have a particular interest in working with neurodivergent adults, including autistic adults and people with ADHD. I have completed Counselling Tutor’s Certificate in Working Therapeutically with Autistic Clients and hold its Autism Informed Practitioner badge.

Practice description

I offer individual counselling for adults face to face in Witham and Chelmsford, as well as online across the UK.

Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, providing a regular and reliable space that is yours. My work is open-ended rather than limited to a fixed number of sessions, so we do not need to decide at the beginning how long counselling will last. We can review the work together as we go and continue for as long as it feels useful.

You can bring whatever feels important. Some people come with a clear difficulty they want to understand; others have a more general sense that something is not quite right. There is no expectation that you will know exactly what to say.

Psychodynamic counselling pays attention to emotions, relationships and patterns that may repeat, sometimes outside our awareness. Over time, becoming more aware of these patterns can help you understand yourself and your relationships differently.

My approach is warm, non-judgemental and collaborative. I work within the BACP Ethical Framework and attend regular clinical supervision.

I welcome neurodivergent adults, whether you have a diagnosis, are exploring whether you are neurodivergent, or want support with other aspects of your life. You may wish to explore masking, overwhelm, feeling misunderstood, or the impact of trying to meet other people’s expectations.

We can discuss your communication and sensory preferences and consider together what would make counselling more comfortable and accessible. This may include clearer questions, time to process and respond, or discussing camera-off or text-based online sessions where appropriate.

You do not need a formal diagnosis to get in touch. I offer counselling rather than diagnostic assessments for autism or ADHD.

My first session

I offer a free 50-minute initial consultation, online or face to face in Witham. This gives us time to talk about what brings you to counselling, ask questions and consider whether working together feels right.

I will invite you to share something about your current situation, what you hope to gain from counselling and relevant aspects of your history. We can also discuss any communication or sensory preferences, or adjustments that might help you feel comfortable.

You do not need to prepare anything, and there is no pressure to share more than you feel able to. I will explain how I work, including confidentiality and the practical arrangements. There is no obligation to continue.

If we agree to work together, ongoing sessions normally take place weekly and last 50 minutes.
