About me and my therapy practice

Are you struggling with difficult thoughts or feelings, facing challenges in your relationships, or finding yourself caught in patterns that are hard to understand or change?

I offer an empathic, non-judgemental space where you can talk things through, feel heard and explore what’s happening beneath the surface. Together, we can make sense of what you’re experiencing and find new ways of moving forward.

I’m a qualified psychodynamic counsellor working with adults (aged 18 and over) who are experiencing a range of emotional and relational challenges. I offer both open-ended long-term counselling and focused short-term therapy over 12 sessions.

I have a particular interest in bereavement having undertaken specialist training with Cruse Bereavement Support. I subsequently volunteered with the charity, working individually with people experiencing grief.

Alongside my private practice, I work as a psychodynamic counsellor at Highgate Counselling Centre.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and work in accordance with its Ethical Framework.

Practice description

I work psychodynamically. This approach recognises that our early relationships and experiences can shape how we see ourselves, relate to others, and respond to the world around us. We may not always be consciously aware of these influences, yet they can continue to affect our thoughts, feelings and behaviour in the present. As a result, we may find ourselves caught in patterns, even when we want things to be different.

Psychodynamic counselling offers you an opportunity to become more aware of your patterns and to explore how past experiences may be influencing your life now. As you gain a greater understanding of what lies beneath the surface, you can discover new ways of responding, opening up the possibility of meaningful change.

I’ll approach our work with curiosity and sensitivity, taking your lead on what feels important at a pace that feels right for you. I see counselling as a collaborative process, in which we can explore your experiences and make sense of what emerges together.

My first session

Recognising that you would like support can be difficult. You may have a range of thoughts, feelings and questions about counselling. Here’s what you can expect.

Introductory call: Once you’ve been in touch, we can arrange a free 15-minute introductory call. This is an opportunity for us to see whether we might be a good fit and for you to ask any questions.

Initial consultation: If you’d like to explore things further, we’ll meet for one or two 50-minute initial consultations. We’ll use this time to explore what has brought you to counselling and to talk about your background. We’ll consider whether psychodynamic counselling could be helpful for you and whether I’m the right person to support you. I’ll explain how the counselling will work.

Counselling sessions: If you’d like to continue, we’ll agree a regular time for your counselling sessions. Each session lasts 50 minutes and takes place weekly.
