About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I’m Samantha. Finding a therapist can often feel overwhelming and finding the right one for you is hugely personal. I offer a calm, confidential space where you can talk about what is on your mind – a safe space where you can feel heard, understood and valued. I am warm, attentive, down to earth and empathetic, and you will be the centre of our time.
My approach is psychodynamic, which means that as well as thinking about your current challenges, we also consider your past experiences and relationships and think together about how these may be shaping your present thoughts, feelings and behaviours. You may find yourself repeating patterns, for example in relationships, and be unsure why you react in particular ways. Together, we will begin to make sense of these patterns. My style is warm and empathetic, and I offer a safe and non-judgemental space for whatever you bring to our sessions together.
I have experience working with clients with a range of issues, including anxiety, low self-esteem, depression, stress, the impact of trauma, relationship difficulties & divorce, bereavement and other emotional challenges. I also have experience supporting those seeking a safe space to explore their gender and/or sexuality; and extensive experience with neurodivergence, with a particular interest in working with the parents of neurodivergent children.
Getting started with counselling can feel daunting, so I offer a free 20 minute telephone or video consultation. This is a no-commitment opportunity for you to ask questions and get a sense of me, and for me to hear a little about what has brought you to counselling.
I am committed to inclusive, anti-oppressive, and non-discriminatory practice, and welcome clients of all genders, sexual orientations, ages and cultural or religious backgrounds.
Practice description
I am a qualified and BACP registered psychotherapist providing 1:1 counselling in a relaxed and confidential setting. My practice is open to anyone who would like support, whether you are experiencing a particular emotional/life challenge or are seeking a deeper understanding of yourself. I offer open-ended, weekly counselling for adults (16+). You may choose to have your counselling in person in a private space in Berkhamsted, or online, or by telephone.
I offer in person, video or telephone sessions and we will discuss together to arrange a mutually convenient session that will be held on the same day and time each week. Our sessions will be 50 minutes in length.
