About me and my therapy practice
My approach to counselling is rooted in the belief that every individual deserves to feel genuinely heard, understood and accepted, without judgement or expectation.
I work from a person-centred foundation, integrating trauma-informed, creative and somatic approaches where appropriate. I believe that you are the expert in your own experiences, and my role is not to direct or fix, but to walk alongside you, offering a compassionate, authentic and supportive therapeutic relationship in which you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences at your own pace.
My practice is relational, collaborative and responsive to the individual. I recognise that experiences of trauma, adversity, loss and emotional distress can affect not only how we think and feel, but also how we experience ourselves, our relationships and the world around us.
Drawing on my professional background in mental health, crisis intervention, criminal justice and community support, I bring an understanding of the complexities of human experience, alongside a genuine respect for each person's resilience, individuality and capacity for growth.
While talking is central to my counselling practice, I recognise that words are not always enough, or indeed easy to find. Where appropriate, and always collaboratively, I may incorporate creative, experiential or body-based techniques to support emotional awareness, expression and regulation.
My work is guided by the BACP Ethical Framework, with particular emphasis on autonomy, integrity, respect, trust and working in the best interests of each client.
I aim to create a therapeutic space where you can feel safe enough to be yourself, explore difficult experiences without pressure, and begin to discover what healing, understanding and meaningful change might look like for you.
Practice description
At Preziosa Therapia, I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can feel heard, understood and accepted for who you are. I recognise that reaching out for counselling can feel overwhelming, particularly when you may be experiencing difficult emotions, navigating challenging circumstances or struggling to make sense of your experiences.
My practice is grounded in person-centred principles, with an integrative, trauma-informed and neuroaffirming approach. I believe that everyone is unique, and that counselling should reflect your individual needs, experiences and circumstances rather than expecting you to fit into a particular way of working.
At the heart of my practice is the therapeutic relationship. I believe that genuine connection, empathy, authenticity and trust provide the foundations for meaningful exploration and personal growth. My role is not to tell you what to do, offer quick solutions or make judgements about your experiences, but to work alongside you, supporting you to develop a deeper understanding of yourself and discover what feels right for you.
I work from a neuro-affirming perspective, recognising and respecting the different ways individuals experience, process and interact with the world. I value individuality and difference, and aim to create an environment where you do not feel pressured to mask, conform or change who you are to be accepted.
I am committed to practising ethically and responsibly in accordance with the BACP Ethical Framework. Confidentiality, professional boundaries, respect for autonomy, equality and diversity, and your emotional wellbeing are central to how I work. I believe it is important that you feel informed, involved and empowered throughout the therapeutic process.
My first session
I offer a free 15–20 minute meet and greet, giving us an opportunity to introduce ourselves, discuss what brings you to counselling, explore how I work and consider whether we feel comfortable working together. There is no obligation to proceed.
If you decide you would like to go ahead, I will provide a New Client Intake Form, Service Level Agreement and Counselling Contract for you to read and complete before your first appointment. If you would prefer support with these documents, we can work through them together during your first session.
I recognise that everyone has different needs and preferences. If there are any reasonable adjustments, accessibility requirements or additional steps I can take to make the process easier or more comfortable for you, I warmly welcome you to share these with me beforehand.
I believe that informed consent is an ongoing, collaborative process, not simply a form to sign. It is important to me that you understand what you are agreeing to, feel able to express any concerns and have the information you need to make choices about your counselling.
Our first session is an opportunity to begin getting to know one another, explore what you hope to gain from counselling and discuss how we might work together. There is no expectation to share everything straight away. We will work at a pace that feels manageable for you, with your comfort, autonomy and wellbeing at the heart of the process.
