About me and my therapy practice
Perhaps life has become harder than you’d like?
You don’t have to face it alone.
I offer a place for wholehearted attention — where you can be your honest self.
Whether you're feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, grieving, questioning your relationships or simply no longer feel like yourself you don't have to face it on your own.
My role isn't to tell you who you should be, it's to understand who you are.
Together we'll explore what has brought you here, at your pace, with care, understanding, respect and honesty..
I am a BACP-registered person-centred counsellor and psychotherapist offering counselling and therapy in Norwich, UK and online. I see counselling as creating the conditions in which new understanding can emerge. My goal is to understand your experience from the inside, offering thoughtful challenge where appropriate while respecting your own pace and inner wisdom.
Many clients describe wanting somewhere they can speak openly without feeling judged, rushed or expected to have everything worked out. You need to be heard, understood and accompanied with care in order to discover a way forward.
Whether we spend time exploring longstanding patterns or recent difficulties and concerns that are hard to put into words – our work will always begin with curiosity, compassion and a genuine human relationship. I also bring an existential perspective that can help you see the big picture and find the meaning you may be looking for.
I work inclusively and affirmatively with trauma, abuse, anxiety, depression, bereavement, pregnancy loss, issues of self-worth, relationship concerns, neurodiversity, men’s and women’s mental health, gender and sexual identity, life transitions, identity and purpose in life.
I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Profession.
I am fully insured with Balens Professional and Public Liability Insurance.
I receive regular clinical supervision.
Practice description
Before counselling, two decades of photojournalism for The New York Times opened doors to thousands of different lives for me. I’ve witnessed moments of joy, grief, illness, courage and change. I learned that the most meaningful encounters begin not with advice, but with genuine attention. Photography taught me how to be present, to listen without interrupting, and to recognise that every person carries a story that cannot be understood at first glance.
Additionally, I’ve worked with people with severe learning disabilities, facilitated group work for men who’ve experienced pregnancy loss, trained counsellors on working with those men, provided psychotherapy for asylum seekers with complex trauma, and worked for three years on a Swedish Wilderness Therapy research project for young adults who’ve experienced cancer.
My life has also been shaped by living abroad for many years and travelling widely. Experiencing different cultures, communities and ways of seeing has fostered humility and curiosity in me and deepened my belief that there is no single way, but rather many ways, to live well.
Underpinning these experiences have been years of personal reflection and Zen Buddhist meditation practice. All this has taught me about vulnerability, resilience, the preciousness of life and the importance of being truly present with another person.
My way of relating offers realness before performance, curiosity before certainty, compassion without judgement, respect for every person’s unique story and the belief that meaningful change begins with feeling deeply understood.
My Qualifications:
Postgraduate Diploma in Person Centred Counselling from the Norwich Centre for Personal and Professional Development.
Postgraduate Certificate in Person Centred Counselling.
BA (Hons) Philosophy Degree.
